Revived advocacy group researches history of LGBT persecution

The Mattachine Society of Washington, D.C., has unearthed a trove of documents and records stretching as far back as the 1950s that reflect discrimination of LGBT individuals within the federal government.

The group was one of the first LGBT advocacy organizations when it was established in 1961, and it has since been revived by civil-rights activists Charles Francis and Rick Rosendall.
