Russian doctor who is gay receives asylum in U.S.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services has approved the asylum request of George Budny, an LGBT Russian doctor. Budny came to the United States seeking asylum from anti-LGBT persecution and discrimination he had experienced in Russia. 

"I am fearful for my safety, the safety of my family and friends and fearful of the fact that I will never be allowed to become a productive and successful member of society in my home country," Budny earlier told the Washington Blade.
