Utah clerks given ability to opt out of same-sex marriages

Utah government officials will be allowed to refuse to marry same-sex couples under legislation signed by Gov. Gary Herbert (pictured) last week. 

County clerks' offices will be required to designate someone else to perform marriages if a clerk refuses to do so.
