Cat lovers of all ages are invited to a day of feline fun at the Quebec Street Shelter from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., where they’ll meet dozens of adoptable cats and kittens, and enjoy clicker-training demonstrations, photo booths, activities for kids, pet behavior and veterinary advice from experts, food, music and shopping at the outdoor “Meow Market,” and get a sneak peek at the League’s brand new, 1,200 square-foot Cat Pavilion. You can also take a stroll through our “Be a Cat” Enrichment Exhibit and experience for yourself how we help increase comfort for the cats in our shelters.
The best part? Adoption fees will be waived for all adult cats (1 year and older), plus cat adopters will receive a free goodie bag.
“CatFest is about celebrating cats as America’s number-one companion, and educating the public on how we, as a community, can come together to reduce the number of homeless cats entering shelters,” said Bob Rohde, president and CEO of the Dumb Friends League.
Throughout the week of CatFest, July 6-12, the Dumb Friends League is hoping to find homes for 250 felines. Summer is a busy season at the League, as it traditionally sees an increase in homeless cats and kittens. During the summer months, the League may care for as many as 900 cats at any given time.
All cat adoptions include a spay/neuter surgery, initial vaccinations, a microchip ID implant and a free office visit with a participating veterinarian.
