Fasten
your seatbelts, Denver; it's going to be a bumpy night! Actress Rutanya
Alda, who played Carol Ann — Joan Crawford's long suffering handmaiden
in the cult film Mommie Dearest — has published her memoir about the
experience.
Because the making of the film was so tumultuous, Rutanya
Alda kept a journal. Now,
almost thirty-five years later, that journal has become the foundation
of Rutanya's fascinating account of making a destined-to-be cult film.
And it turned out that, because of Faye Dunaway's over-the-top behavior
and acting, she is a strong, if not altogether flattering, presence in
Ms. Alda's memoir.
Rutanya Alda reads excerpts from The Mommie Dearest Diary, meets the fans, and signs copies of her book at the Denver Public Library on Wednesday, October 7, from 7-9pm.
