Israeli Transgender Teen to Compete in Beauty Pageant of the South

A Wider Bridge, the LGBTQ advocacy group building connections between the Israeli and North American LGBTQ communities, shared the recent story of Romy Abergel, an Israeli transgender teenager who, against all odds, will compete in this year’s Beauty Pageant of the South.  In the article, “I’d Rather Live One Day as A Girl – And Then Die”, A Wider Bridge covers the interview with Romy and her mother, Ilanit, in which they discuss the resistance they have experienced along 14-year-old Romy’s transition and how in the end, a mother’s unconditional love transcends all.
