Take action for LGBTQ health!

With a new administration entering the White House in early 2017, Congress has threatened to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), which would leave millions without access to the health care they need. The ACA has greatly benefitted lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Coloradans and their families — from its nondiscrimination provisions to ensuring that people can’t be denied health care based on a pre-existing condition. Congress has requested feedback from Governors across the country about their priorities to address our health care system.

Governor Hickenlooper needs hears from you now about why he should oppose any action on the Affordable Care Act until Congress has a plan that offers more affordable care, better coverage and consumer protections than what Coloradans are currently receiving.

For LGBTQ Coloradans, the Affordable Care Act ensures that transgender people cannot be denied health care based on their gender identity, that spousal coverage applies to same-sex couples, and that there are no lifetime limits for people living with chronic illnesses. Many of those vital protections could be lost if the Affordable Care Act is repealed. Repeal would also impact Coloradans on Medicaid and those who have received financial assistance to access the care they need.

So much is on the line! Without a comprehensive replacement plan, many LGBTQ Coloradans health care will be in jeopardy. Email Governor Hickenlooper today!
