Sign One Colorado's Petition to Defend Transgender Youth

Word on the street is that the Trump Administration is considering rolling back protections for transgender youth in our public schools.

Sign One Colorado's petition to send a clear message to the Trump Administration that we must continue to protect transgender young people.

In 2008, Colorado Governor Bill Ritter signed the Anti-Discrimination Act that added protections for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer Coloradans in places of public accommodations, including schools. Since then, it has been unlawful to deny access or services based on a person’s sexual orientation or gender identity — and last year, the Obama Administration's Justice Department issued similar affirming guidelines for transgender students, which Trump's Justice Department may rescind.

Even if the federal protections are rolled back, Colorado law still protects transgender young people, which is why One Colorado has worked with the Colorado Association of School Executives, the Colorado Association of School Boards, the Colorado Education Association, the Colorado League of Charter Schools, and the Colorado High School Activities and Athletics Association to ensure LGBTQ students are protected and have the right to facilities, activities, and athletics that correspond with their gender identity.
