Call for Volunteers: RiNo art installation volunteer day, Oct 29

As the changing leaves bring color to Denver, the RiNo Art District is bringing fresh color to the city’s first tiny home village. The Beloved Community Village, which welcomed its first residents this summer, reached out to the RiNo Art District earlier this month requesting a creative solution to the current lack of privacy for villagers. With a design in hand, the RiNo Art District is now asking for the community’s help on Oct 29 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM to install an art fence around the Beloved Community Village for individuals experiencing homelessness.

“The villagers feel like they are living in a fishbowl since they are exposed to passersby on all sides,” said RiNo Art District Creative Director, Tracy Weil. “We wanted to find a way to offer them more privacy and bring an artistic component to their community.”

Volunteers will be installing colored slats into the chain link fence surrounding the village at 3733 Walnut Street and are asked to wear closed toed shoes and comfortable clothing.

This project is part of the continuing partnership between the village and the Art District during the initial program which is the first of its kind in Denver.

“We are really excited to bring the community together to create something beautiful to benefit the villagers,” said RiNo Art District President, Jamie Licko. “More than anything, we want the village to feel safe, comfortable, and appreciated in the RiNo Art District.”
