Melkbelly - Off the Lot

Today, Chicago rock quartet Melkbelly share their new single and video, "Off The Lot," the third single off their forthcoming debut album, Nothing Valley (out 10/13 on Wax Nine/Carpark). "‘Off The Lot’ is inspired by the hot and sprawling geography of the southwest," says drummer James Wetzel.

"The video is a psychedelic ride through a place of pulsating valleys and colorful patterns that dance around with the rhythms of the song. Brief shots of band members emphasize their densely layered sound as being an extension of the overwhelmingly abstracted and morphing terrain. A shifting sun provides both clarity and a blinding light. The video was made using the v002 Rutt/Etra video synthesizer."

The video was premiered via Consequence of Sound, who have named Melkbelly their Artist of the Month, which began yesterday with a large profile on the band and continues today with with an "Origins" feature about "Off The Lot," deconstructing the creative conception of the song.
