Midnight Movies at The Esquire: Spooktacular!

Designed to be the greatest midnight spook show ever, this unique program includes trailers from both classic and campy horror films, a hilarious—and oddly disturbing—early Technicolor cartoon called 'The Cobweb Hotel' (1936) and, as the main attraction, a full-length, uncut print of George A. Romero's 'Night of the Living Dead' (1968), the gross-out classic that literally changed the face of screen terror. From beginning to end, Spooktacular! will have you falling out of your seats with laughter, then jumping out of your seats with fright. Remember to dress up in costume or else the zombies will be coming to get you, Barbara.

Gruesome Twosome at Starz

You know the drill. Every Halloween you're craving horror films. You run to the video store and find the horror section completely picked over and of what remains you've seen so many times that the scary's been sucked right out of it. You race online to see what's playing in the theaters. That remake of 'Halloween' came out...in August and really ... it was a remake. Then you see a glimmer of hope. The Starz FilmCenter has a Horrific Double feature, a Gruesome Twosome if you will, of two BRAND NEW films destined to become Halloween classics, 'Murder Party' and 'Blood Car'.

Both films will be presented back to back with some great horror film trailers sandwiched inbetween (and a peek at the upcoming midnight series at the 30th Starz Denver Film Festival - THE WATCHING HOUR). It's the perfect event for Halloween don't miss your chance to be a part of it!
Best of all, you can see both films for only $10! See the Gruesome Twosome on Tuesday, October 30 and Wednesday, October 31 starting at 7:30 p.m.

BOO(BS)! Elvira's training her own replacement

The next Elvira lives among us, and the original Mistress of the Dark searches for the new Elvira with a series of tasks and challenges to see which of the thirteen hopefuls is worthy of becoming the new Mistress. Growing up in Southern California in the '80s, when and where Elvira got her start as the ghoulishly funny host of Movie Macabre, I've always loved the Mistress of the Dark. I also loved Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot, but you wouldn't know anything about that.

Midnight Madness at The Esquire

Rushmore is this weeks offering for Midnight Madness at The Esquire Theatre. A little known fact is that anybody who shows up in costume as a character from the movie of the week gets a free pass for next time. This one should be easy:

1. Beret
2. Black plastic eyeglasses
3. Jacket
4. Tie

They're Heeeeeere!

The bad boys of Mile High Sci Fi return to the Starz Film Center this month October 19 and 20 at 8:30 p.m. Using only their wits, and a set of steel microphones, local funnymen Matt Vogl, Harrison Raines and Chris Atencio are the guys that you want talking through your movie at the Starz Film Center. Get in the Halloween spirit with Mile High Sci-Fi as the guys roll up their sleeves and take on one of the classic scare flicks: Poltergeist. If you think your sub-prime mortgage is the worst thing that can happen to a homeowner, think again. At least you don't have pissed-off child snatching ghosts living in your television set.
