Undies & Lube: Underwear Should Be Fun to Wear

Long gone are the days when cheap white briefs were the go-to underwear for men. Today's underwear create a display and excitement like never before. The Undies & Lube team helps you put on a good show at tonight’s scene. Or the next hottie that destiny sends your way.

From grow-ers to show-ers... Today’s modern underwear fabrics fit all kinds of shapes and sizes. They’re also designed to fit a variety of activities. Here’s what you need to know about the top fabrics and when to wear them.

Polyester

Polyester is a synthetic fiber that doesn’t wrinkle. Today’s polyester isn’t the same cheap nasty fabric of the 60’s and 70’s. New manufacturing and weaves have created material. It lasts longer and much more durable than before.

Also gone are the boring pastel colors. Polyester can be produced in bright vibrant colors and doesn’t fade. Polyester fabric stretches, does not wrinkle, and provides that feeling of being encased without extreme sweating.

Many times it’s combined with other fabrics to add durability and structure. Thanks to new weaving patterns interlocking polyester with other fabrics. Read the label and feel the material. Get to know how polyester can provide that special night with a new twist.

Spandex

Spandex is a synthetic fiber made from polyurethane, sometimes called Elastane. It’s elastic, durable, lightweight and resistant to moisture. Almost 60 years old, Spandex has seen a major evolution in the fabric. Created to replace the use of rubber in underwear for women... Spandex became the rage once Olivia put them on in Grease.

Spandex provides little support for men by itself. Spandex is often combined with other fabrics. Offering the support people need and body hugging fabric every gay man loves. It’s breathable, draws moisture from the skin, and very form fitting.

Polyester spandex blends are used in compression shorts, swimwear. And let's not forget about underwear that puts on a show. Polyester spandex blend fabric is great for running, biking, and working out. Or just showing off in meggings.

Modal

Modal is a rayon crafted from beech trees. It's similar in texture to silk or cotton. But it's less likely to fade or shrink. Most companies combine it with spandex. Creating one of the best fabrics for everyday underwear.

Modal keeps its shape, resists wrinkles. It can be dyed in vibrant colors that don't run or fade. What you'll really notice most about this fabric... it's oh so soft on your skin.

Modal absorbs 50% more moisture than cotton and won't pill from friction. But it doesn't trap moisture and odors like cotton.

This is a luxury fabric that's comfortable to wear all day. It offers moderate support and lots of movement. Modal is not the first choice for a heavy work out such as biking, running, or cross fit. It's the perfect choice for daily activities and avoiding swamp crotch.

Nylon

Nylon material has been around for nearly 100 years, developed as an alternative to silk. It’s a synthetic fabric made from petroleum. Nylon can be made thinner than other fabrics. Making it useful for all types of underwear designs.

During heavy workouts, nylon alone will keep your skin and crotch dry. It just won’t last as long as other materials. It’s also prone to snags, pilling and tears. So it’s commonly combined with cotton to help it last longer. Nylon cotton blends provides a higher level of comfort and more breathability too.

Nylon is an okay choice for everyday underwear. But it’s a great choice for special occasions or for putting on a show. Mostly because the lower durability. You’ll get more daily mileage out of other fabrics.

Supplex® Nylon
Supplex® nylon is nylon that looks and feels like cotton fabric. It’s breathable and comfortable to wear. Supplex® nylon is perfect for every day and vigorous activities. Thanks to its stretch quality.

Supplex® nylon can take dyes and vary in thicknesses. Keeping its form and color after multiple uses. It’s also waterproof, washable, and dries quickly. Makit it perfect fabric for underwear while traveling.

Conclusion

Today you have a huge variety of colors, fits, and designs to express your sexy and active sides. When shopping for new underwear… Choose the cut that shows off your stuff and fits how you like. Pick the fabric that’s ready for the activity or event. Visit Undies & Lube and let your wildest fantasies fly.

Nice To See StevieB: Spring Pooh

By StevieB

It is that time of year again. no, not Gymuary. Although that phenomenon is in full force. Is it just me, or is it every January that the "Circuit Bros" attempt to take over? They begin to lay dumbbells and water bottles on every bench they quite possibly use in all of 2018. You can walk into the free-weight section at your local gym, and feel that the rapture happened as there are nothing but a sea of towels, water bottles, and tiny dumb bells scattered around the area. God wants the fit. Apparently.

For me, this time of year happens twice a year. About two weeks before the next semester of school. I log into my school's bookstore website and see what books I need. Then I go to Amazon and see what I can buy cheaper online. 99.9% of the time, I get lazy, forget to order through Amazon and still end up at the University bookstore to buy my used/abused copies of needed books.

This Spring, I am taking Early Modern Europe History, and Modern Philosophy. The books for the history class are Fractured Europe, Luis XIV, The Thirty Years War, and ironically a book called Enlightenment. All of these are "required reading." I totally dig early European history, so I am super excited; because, that is the kind of nerd I am.

The Modern Philosophy class has no books listed yet. Other than the famous The Tao of Pooh which I read cover-to-cover at least twenty times in my 20s. Until I left it on the seat of my best-friend's Fiero when it was repossessed. (The car-- not the book). So..... Literally I am going to re-read Winnie the Pooh in University. I wonder if I should ask Burt to replace my copy of Pooh that was lost in his Pontiac Fiero?

National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund: Shutdown Stops and LGBTQ Activists Start

Just days after federal lawmakers reopened the government, hundreds of LGBTQ advocates will take over Capitol Hill to bring Queer Voices on the Hill on Thursday, January 25, 1:00 – 5:00 PM. Over 500 LGBTQ advocates from every walk of life and representing almost 50 states will meet with Congressional leaders during the National LGBTQ Task Force’s Queer Voices on the Hill: Creating Change Advocacy Day.

“The compromise that ended the shutdown is a major disappointment - one that jeopardizes the safety and wellbeing of DREAMers -- and those who are LGBTQ are particularly vulnerable. We are taking Queer Voices to the Hill to fight for them,” says Rea Carey, Executive Director of the Task Force Action Fund. The Task Force, along with partners such as United We Dream, the Center for American Progress, and the National Queer Asian Pacific Islander Alliance will be on Capitol Hill Thursday pressuring lawmakers to act swiftly on Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) by passing the DREAM Act.

“The Trump/Pence administration took office a year ago this week, and the attacks on women’s rights, immigrants’ rights, and lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer individuals have been incessant. Part of our work as advocates is to pressure our elected officials to act on our behalf and hold them accountable when they don’t,” says Stacey Long Simmons, Director of Advocacy and Action at the National LGBTQ Task Force. “The Task Force is convening one of the largest LGBTQ advocacy days in recent history to say: enough is enough. In law and in practice, LGBTQ people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. We plan to tell our lawmakers exactly how to do so.”

LGBTQ advocates and allies will share personal stories, educate lawmakers, thank LGBTQ champions in Congress and hold Congressional members accountable for achieving LGBTQ equality, equity, and justice. This year, the Creating Change Conference celebrates its 30th anniversary with the theme: Learn. Connect. Resist. The conference is in Washington, DC to spotlight one year of resistance to the most anti-LGBTQ administration in recent memory.

The focus for Queer Voices on the Hill: Creating Change Advocacy Day is on:
Nondiscrimination: Pass explicit federal protections to counter LGBTQ discrimination in housing, employment, public accommodations, jury service, public funding, credit and education.

Faith and Nondiscrimination: Oppose harmful religious exemptions that allow individuals or entities to discriminate under the guise of religious freedom.

Reproductive Justice and Poverty: Pass legislation that ensures abortion care is included in public health insurance programs; ensure employers or health plan sponsors include coverage for abortion care; and ensure health service providers make abortion available to individuals who are eligible to receive services.

Racial Justice and Criminal Justice: Pass legislation to prohibit racial and religious profiling within federal law enforcement and develop programs for law enforcement training, data collection, and dealing with complaints.

Disability and Bodily Autonomy: Pass legislation to mandate protections for people with disabilities in group homes, nursing homes and psychiatric hospitals.

Support Immigrant Communities: Advocate for protecting Dreamers and enacting immigration policies that respect people coming to this country.

Love & Hip-Hop NY's Jonathan Fernandez Opens Up About Traumatic Conversion Therapy

Celebrity make-up artist, Jonathan Fernandez, the newest star of Season 8 of Love & Hip-Hop New York, recently opened up on the show about the traumatic Gay Conversion Therapy he was subjected to at the age of 10 years old. Having grown up in New York City in a religious Dominican family, Fernandez’s mother sent him to the Dominican Republic in 1995 to undergo the controversial, yet legal, conversion therapy for six months. Bullied all throughout his childhood for not fitting into the “normal” gender stereotypes, his mother believed the treatment would help him address his feminine qualities, and ultimately keep him safe from his abusers.

“I went through a series of psychotherapy and hormone therapy to address my more feminine behaviour,” says Fernandez about his treatment. “Part of the treatment consisted of electronic stimulation that was hooked up to my body through pads with wires connected to a machine. The therapist would then give me light shocks if I answered questions incorrectly, or in a way that they disapproved of. I have had physical and emotional scars that I live with to this day.”

Commonly believed to be a pseudoscientific practice of aiming to change an individual’s sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, Conversion Therapy has surprisingly been around since the 1920s, including experiments dating back to Sigmund Freud. According to the Human Rights Campaign, one of the largest LGBTQ civil rights advocacy groups in the US, conversion therapy can lead to depression, anxiety, drug use, homelessness and suicide. THE HRC also states that such practices have been rejected by mainstream medical and mental health organizations, however, due to the continued discrimination against LGBTQ people, some practitioners continue to conduct conversion therapy throughout the globe. Despite his traumatic past, Fernandez is determined to shed light on the reality of Conversion Therapy and the risks to its participants.

In addition to sharing his story on this season of LHHNY, Jonathan Fernandez has also appeared on the first three seasons of the hit television series K.Michelle: My Life, which had an average viewership of 1.8M viewers. A self-taught make-up artist, beginning at the age of 15, Fernandez has worked with such artists as Kanye West, Cindi Lauper, Missy Elliott, Martha Stewart, Da Brat, Roberta Flack, Angie Martinez, K. Michelle and more. He has also done make-up work for NY Fashion Week including shows for Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Carolina Herrera, The Blonds, and Heatherette. Fernandez is set to launch his own make-up line called ByJonathan in March, and will see the premiere of his full line on this season of Love & Hip-Hop.

Books: Charlie

Charlie is a harrowing account of a gay man’s fight against the authorities of a government hell-bent on destroying him, his reputation, his career, his family, and utterly everything in his life. This is a true story of heinous crimes against humanity and serious breaches of civil liberties. This is a story of rape, abuse, psychological terrorism, imprisonment without trial, and the murder of innocent gay men.

“Even to this day, I get sick to my stomach when accepting that this all began with a comment on Facebook,” explains the author. “It shows the lengths a nation will go to in order to silence its residents, protect the Government’s interests and take drastic steps to belittle and bury those who speak out. Worst of all, this most definitely isn’t fiction.”

Continuing, “However, I also use the book to show the flipside; the British Government’s bending over backwards to ensure the safety of me and my boyfriend, and the human spirit’s ability to find hope if it refuses to give up in the face of adversity. I think, ultimately, it proves that good always triumphs over evil.”

Openly Gay Race Car Driver Freddy Niblack Signs with Woodard Racing Organization

Woodard Racing Organisation recently announced the signing of LGBT racing ace Freddy Niblack and the company’s return to the highly competitive Britcar Endurance Championship for 2018. With a Ginetta G55 GT4, the team are eager to rejoin the grid, and form part of this spirited championship.

Woodard Racing Organisation announced that they have signed Niblack to a two year deal. Niblack is one of the only out race car drivers in the United States.

With a background that embraces the American motor racing scene, Freddy is certainly equipped with skill, and he is very much looking forward to his new venture.

"I think some of the best drivers in the world come from the U.K.,” states Niblack. “I'm excited to learn the many new circuits and to learn from the team. It's definitely going to be a challenge with my open wheel background, but I'm confident in the team and myself."

Team Principle, Peter Woodard, commented: "Britcar is a very competitive championship. After running the Mini for the last two years, we have learnt that it is not necessarily the right car for the job. There are a number of Ginetta's in the championship, all of whom are competitive. We don't expect to be hassling the front runners right away, but our goal is to be competitive, and to be able to race amongst the top half of the grid. We fully expect 2018 to be a learning year, as we navigate our way with the Ginetta."

Although the main focus is the Britcar Championship, Woodard Racing plan to team their efforts with a number of appearances in other endurance series, which are due to be announced shortly. The team will also continue to race their Mini R56, as part of the 750 Motor Club Club Enduro Championship.

The Britcar Endurance Championship comprises seven rounds, including many of the major circuits within the UK. The team are due to release their testing schedule soon, in preparation for the first round at the Rockingham Motor Speedway on April 14.
