Colorado Springs PrideFest 2012: A conversation with Rockstar Aaron

Rockstar Aaron brings his pink mohawk and his prodigious DJ skills to the 7th Annual High & Mighty White Party at The Underground this weekend for Colorado Springs PrideFest 2012!


We had ourselves a little kiki about it and here's how that conversation went.

Drew: Have you worked The Underground or Colorado Springs Pride before? What do you like about it and why are you excited for the weekend?

Rockstar Aaron: I haven’t played at the Underground yet, but I have been playing during Colorado Springs PrideFest the last few years. I play in the Springs about once a month, it’s always a fun crowd! They are re-opening the Hide & Seek complex soon which I am looking forward to.

What are some of your favorite songs/artists of summer 2012 so far?

Scissor Sister’s new album 'Magic Hour' makes me wet!

I love the Ben Castañeda's Reconstruction Mashup Mix of “Let Me Think About A Kiki.”

I really enjoy all songs that have anything to do with a party. I can’t get enough of 212 (feat. Lazy Jay) by Azealia Banks. The new Fergie featuring Pitbull, Feel Alive, is hot.

Colorado Springs Pride's largest event of the year, Colorado Springs PrideFest takes place July 21 and 22 in Downtown Colorado Springs at Acacia Park.

The Underground hosts the cast of Disney on Ice

The owners of Colorado Springs' premier gay bar, The Underground, report that tonight they will be hosting the cast of Disney on Ice and opening the BoilerRoom Dance Club for a rare Thursday night treat.

Call for artists

The Underground in Colorado Springs is seeking artwork from community members for display at a wine and cheese reception on Monday, July 13.

It is up to the artist whether they'd like to offer their work for sale and each artist may submit up to five pieces. The deadline to submit work is Wednesday, July 8th. The artists with the best pieces, as voted on by a panel and people attending the reception, will be offered display space within the Underground for sixty days. Underground Bar celebrates three year anniversary on Valentines Day

The Underground celebrates their third anniversary this month.

All month they are featuring $3 wells as an inflation buster special and they also have great deals on Wednesday and Thursday nights including $1 Bud Light drafts after 10 p.m.

Lavender Film Festival Apres Parties at The Underground

Head on over to The Underground this Friday and Saturday for The Lavender Film Festival Apres Parties.

Additionally, they'll also be hosting a fetish/fantasy party called Decadence Ball in their back room.

On Saturday they've got an amazing line-up of DJs, including the return of Chicago's Psycho Bitch. There's no cover charge on Saturday evening for Festival Pass holders, and there will be drink specials and free eats both nights for movie goers! This party goes on until 4 a.m. so pace yourself!

Colorado Springs Underground Pride Parties

Colorado Springs PrideFest is this weekend and there's gonna be a huge party at The Underground in Colorado Springs this Saturday night.

It's a White Party and there'll be ten different DJ's spinning on two different stages, including DJ Funk from Chicago, DJ johnnyonelove from Austin as well as a number of locals. The music starts at 6 p.m. and goes on long into the next morning at 4 a.m.

Sunday's Pride Parade, which attracted 10,000 people last year, ends in Acacia park, where PrideFest is held, and is less than a block from the Underground. DJ onelove and Tommy B are staying over and will be spinning from 3-8 p.m. at the Underground with free drinks from 3-4 p.m.
