The Denver Element at Cheesman Park: Buddies, Bodies, and BBQ

It was fun in the sun this past Sunday at Cheesman Park with The Denver Element's big gay BBQ.

Over 150 local gay guys attended and enjoyed good food, good music, and good company.

"As gay men we rarely have a chance to come together without an agenda," said Christopher Smith, organizer of the BBQ. "This event has no agenda. It's just gay men loving up on each other the way God intended it to be."

Michael Beatty, a former co-worker of mine from back in the Out Front Colorado days, is back in town and also on board with the group.

"The Denver Element is for and by gay and bisexual men in Denver," said Beatty. "We are looking to fill some gaps in service and community by co-creating a co-op place for men to meet and have conversation. What is Element? It's whatever you want it to be. You are invited to come and be part of the conversation and create something together and celebrate ourselves as gay and bisexual men."

Their next event will be their Grand Housewarming open house which will take place August 27 from 4:30-8 p.m. at their new headquarters at 950 Logan Street.

Be sure to check them out The Denver Element and take part in everything this wonderful new organization has to offer.
