Meet the Rocky Mountaineers

Founded in 1968, the Rocky Mountaineers Motorcycle Club is the oldest gay organization in Colorado and while all of the members share an interest in the sport of motorcycling, the group is also dedicated to socializing and fund-raising.

The Rocky Mountaineers pour beer during beer busts at the Denver Wrangler, co-sponsor the Cruise Against AIDS - which has raised over $160,000 since its inception 25 years ago - and participate in other group's charity rides. In 2009 the Mountaineers were able to donate $500 each to Chesney-Kleinjohn Housing and Horizon House. The group also hosts the annual Golden Fleece Run, one of the country's oldest gay motorcycle runs.

And while the club's primary mission is to promote motorcycling in Denver's gay community you do not need to own a motorcycle to join. Check out the website for more information or drop by one of the monthly meetings at BJ's Carousel at 7 p.m. on the second Wednesday of every month.
