volunteer for the Wisconsin congressional campaign of Republican Chad
Lee has
told police he made up a story about being attacked and beaten for being gay and Republican.
The elaborate hoax involved fake text messages
purportedly from the husband of Lee's opponent, Mark Pocan, an openly
gay Democrat vying to represent Wisconsin's 2nd Congressional District.
Pocan's campaign manager said
the couple would likely sue for libel.
