The
Queen of England, Elizabeth II, this week lent her support to a new
commonwealth charter that expresses a rejection of discrimination on the
bases of "gender, race, colour, creed, political belief or other
grounds."
Some news outlets reported that the phrase "other grounds" was
meant to include sexual orientation, but others pointed out that the Queen has never publicly uttered the words "gay" or "lesbian" during her
more than 60 years on the throne.
