New Mexico Supreme Court to hear marriage equality case

The New Mexico Supreme Court last week to hold a hearing next month to consider whether same-sex couples should be allowed to marry in the state. Clerks from all 33 of the state's counties requested the court address the matter, which has gained attention since eight counties in the state, including the three most populous, began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples. The hearing is scheduled for Oct. 23, and a decision is expected shortly thereafter.
