Gay anchor to co-host Miss Universe pageant in Moscow

MSNBC anchor Thomas Roberts announced Friday that he will co-host the 2013 Miss Universe Pageant to be held next month in Moscow. Roberts, who came out publicly in 2006 and married his husband last year, said he views the chance to host the pageant as "a huge, visible opportunity for LGBT people" around the world.

"I'm openly gay; I'm happily married and I don't think anybody's going to tell me that I'm less than," Roberts said in an interview Friday. "And so for that very reason that's why I wanted to go and accept this assignment."
