Out N.J. lawmaker introduces bill prohibiting "gay panic defense"

A bill introduced by New Jersey state Assemblyman Tim Eustace seeks to bar defendants in criminal cases from arguing that the LGBT status of their victims caused them to act in a state of temporary insanity

Eustace, an openly gay Democrat, noted that this "gay panic defense" does not appear to have been invoked yet in the state. California passed a measure similar to Eustace's in September.
