Members of Congress urged to protect LGBT staffers

A group of Democrats led by House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer is urging fellow lawmakers to add gender identity and sexual orientation to their anti-discrimination policies. Although many openly LGBT staffers enjoy employment protections conferred by the offices that employ them, the current House Members' Handbook does not list sexual orientation and gender identity in its anti-discrimination clause.
