Is the anti-gay Amazon delisting scandal just a prank?

Gawker posts that a "well-known hacker" has taken responsibility for the delisting of GLBT books on Amazon.

Carpe diem! Amazon's anti-gay policy could mark the return of the gay bookstore

Amazon does not want GLBT books anymore.

Sweet! Now the gay bookstores that were put out of business by Amazon (and, let's face it, lack of gay support) can return, albeit online, and retake their rightful places as GLBT gathering places and resources.

This should be a lesson to the gay community to support GLBT-owned-and-operated-and friendly businesses not to depend on mainstream mega-corporations to look out for our best interests.

Personally, I say fie on Amazon and look forward to some smart and entreprenurial gay person stepping in and taking advantage of this situation to create a site to take the place of Amazon in terms of gay book sales. Amazon's loss can be the GLBT community's gain.

Others, like noted sexpert Tristan Taormino, advocate signing an online petition against Amazon's new anti-GLBT policy.
