Good-bye to the Gayborhood?

Straight writer Matt Katz laments the homogenization of neighborhoods once steeped in gay culture, such as Washington, D.C.'s Dupont Circle

"There's something funny and joyful about a place where people don't pretend that the real world is anything all that important, where cleverness, artistry and merriment is applauded. It's not that you can't join the club if you're not gay; you can't join the club if you're not funny," Katz writes.

Historically, Denver's oldest and most colorful Gayborhood has been Capitol Hill (left, all gayed up for Denver PrideFest) but in recent years neighborhoods like Gaypleton have arisen to lay claim to the title.
