Drag Icon BenDeLaCreme Announces Spring Tour “BenDeLaCreme is...Ready to Be Committed”

Global drag icon and RuPaul’s Drag Race star, BenDeLaCreme, will embark on her biggest solo tour yet as star and Lead Producer – April 13 through July 10, 2022 – with her critically acclaimed, narrative-cabaret, “BenDeLaCreme is...READY TO BE COMMITTED” (produced by BenDeLaCreme Presents). This one-queen extravaganza is a hilarious and heartfelt spectacular that blends burlesque, comedy, and original music with her signature Terminally Delightful charm.

After years of people asking the aggressively effervescent queen if she can “please, settle down,” BenDeLaCreme is finally ready to tie the knot in something besides her corset. Now, all she needs is a potential spouse. And a dress. And a cake. And the ability to consider others.

It’s a relay race to the altar as DeLa dodges pervy Grindr suitors, bitchy wedding-cake-toppers, and the errant arrows of Cupid himself! Join the blushing bride as she tackles the pitfalls of love, marriage, and romance in a limited engagement about the limitations of engagements.

After the original iteration of the “Ready to Be Committed” tour was postponed in 2020, the 2022 tour has increased in size. BenDeLaCreme’s 2021 holiday tour, “The Return of the Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Show, LIVE!” with co-star Jinkx Monsoon, marked the queen’s highest grossing tour under BenDeLaCreme Presents, further showcasing DeLa’s growing impact within the drag and theater industry as a producing powerhouse. She also became the first drag queen to produce a feature film (under pandemic restrictions) with “The Jinkx & DeLa Holiday Special” (2020), landing BenDeLaCreme Presents an exclusive licensing deal with streaming giant, Hulu. The film won “Lockdown LOL” at the 2021 Queerties.

BenDeLaCreme says, “After two long years of postponements I’m OVER-FREAKING-JOYED to be bringing my new solo show back on the road! And I gotta tell you all: this one’s a doozy! ‘Ready to Be Committed’ is the story of one queen who searches for love and finds a whole lot she never bargained for—Bitchy brides, pervy Grindr guys, corpse-eating cats, song, dance, and more puppets than you ever thought you’d see at a wedding. I can’t wait to share DeLa’s special day with all of you! Save the date!”

Written, directed, and produced by BenDeLaCreme, “BenDeLaCreme is...READY TO BE COMMITTED” showcases the multifaceted superstar at her best. The show played to sold-out crowds in New York City and Provincetown upon its debut in 2019.

Nice To See StevieB: Dragcon

By StevieB

Did I mention that we went to Dragcon this last weekend? I understand how it could go unmentioned as there has been a lot going on. With my Mother’s death and finials week for school it sort of seemed like the red tape at the end of a sprint.

Dragcon is the Rupaul’s Drag Race convention occurring annually in Los Angeles. All things dragish are celebrated. For me it was a reward for ending this last semester of school. My final grades haven’t been posted, but I’ll reward myself for by passing grades now. We flew out a couple of days before the event started and took a trip to Hogsmeade, via the Harry Potter land inside Universal Studios, Hollywood. Where I drake my fill of Butterbeer, and rode all the wizarding rides.

Kim Chi; Good enough to eat
The drag-convention was absolutely amazing. I was able to have a picture taken with my favorite Queen, Kim Chi. And one of my all-time heroes in life, Michelle Visage. I follow Michelle on her podcast where she speaks a lot of good health via food choices and most importantly life choices. She’s quite remarkable in her life outlook. All-in-all it was a great time and I am grateful for the timing to come at the end of such a tumultuous period.

RuPaul Responds to Mary Cheney's Questions About Drag and Blackface

Last week, Mary Cheney launched a conversation on Facebook about whether drag was a valid form of entertainment, or something derogatory like blackface.

The former Vice President’s daughter had asked:

Why is it socially acceptable—as a form of entertainment—for men to put on dresses, make up and high heels and act out every offensive stereotype of women (bitchy, catty, dumb, slutty, etc.). But it is not socially acceptable—as a form of entertainment—for a white person to put on blackface and act out offensive stereotypes of African Americans?

Shouldn’t both be okay or neither? Why does society treat these activities so differently?

Cheney said the question was inspired by an ad for the upcoming season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. World of Wonder - creators of RuPaul's Drag Race - responded toCheney’s question with a video posted on YouTube. In it, RuPaul recalls the many drag pioneers who have used the art form as self-expression, as a tool of cultural and political change, and, yes, as a celebration of womanhood.

Jared Polis: Congressman, RuPaul's Drag Race Fan

Gay gazillionaire politicians -- they're just like us!

Everybody loves RuPaul's Drag Race, including Colorado Congressman Jared Polis who recently tweeted in anticipation of the upcoming season -- which will feature an appearance by hunky former Denver resident, Ross Milam, btw.

Now, as a fellow Race fan, I just had to find out which queen was his all-time favorite contestant. And, drumroll please ... he chose Sharon Needles as his number one! Who knew she ever lived in Colorado?

What do you think? Who is your all-time fave? For my money it's Willam Belli, hands down!

Sexy Former Denverite Makes Splash, Shakes A$$, With Queens of RuPaul's Drag Race

Do you know Ross Milam? He's the former Denverite who moved to Los Angeles and became the face (and body) of Scruff - a dating/hookup app you may be familiar with. Anyway, if you blinked you may have missed Ross’ appearance in the new video from RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Alaska. He’s right there at 1:23, shakin' his stuff.

“Alaska and I kind of hit it off at a party in Portland," says Ross. "She said she was going to be making a video and wanted me to be in it. She flew me down and I was in the video for like two seconds. It was insane."

But what's she like in real life? "She’s really fun and professional. I’ve worked with 10 or 20 of the (RuPaul's Drag Race) queens and she’s as funny as any of them. She’s the most professional, the most approachable of them all."

If that tiny taste of Ross left you hungry for more, you'll be happy to know that he'll be getting more screen time on the upcoming season of RuPaul's Drag Race.

“I am, in fact, on this season," says Ross. "Well, I make an appearance. You've just got to watch, it's going to be the scruffiest season yet. It was really cool. The talent pool this season is just crazy, it's going to be the biggest yet. And I got to meet RuPaul. She's a legend and really lives up to that designation. No queen has shit on her. No matter how badass they think they are, they ain’t got shit on Ru. There’s just something about her."

You can see Ross and the new crop of Ru’s girls when RuPaul’s Drag Race season six premieres Monday, February 24.

And here’s a little blast from the not-too-distant past; Ross and friends at the first-ever Denver Bearracuda from back in 2011:

The World Premier of 'Pure Camp' with Sharon Needles and Alaska!

Hiiieeee!! America's favorite drag-couple, Sharon Needles and Alaska are taking their relationship to the next level, the Great Outdoors!

"When Sharon and Alaska suggested we film them camping, we were in! Everyone needs more Sharon and Alaska. Period!" said Randy Barbato. "What's more campy then two queens... well... camping!!" added Sharon Needles.

Watch as the queens fiddle with their equipment to try and pitch a tent, rubbing sticks to build a fire, and beating a bushy thicket to clear a trail. All puns aside, these two vampy camp tramps butch-it-up in the wilderness, with cat walks and impromptu dance parties to boot!

"I thought getting some fresh air would give us an opportunity to conquer the great outdoors and demonstrate our strength and ruggedness by facing the rugged wild... I was wrong," chimed Alaska.

Can these two gay city-boys survive the forest? Will hungry bears (animal or man) attack and pillage base-camp?

Make sure to watch PURE CAMP every Thursday on WOW Presents!

Logo and World of Wonder team up with So Much Drama Studios, the company behind the hit game Fireflies!, to stir up the gaming field with RuPaul’s Drag Race: Dragopolis, a one-of-a-kind app that spices up the endless runner game genre with a new kind of heroine. RuPaul’s Drag Race: Dragopolis will be available for free download on iTunes for iOS devices on Monday, May 6, 2013 to coincide with that night’s season finale of Logo’s RuPaul’s Drag Race.
