WinterPRIDE, when the gays take over the resort of Whistler, is just weeks away.  The 19th annual Gay & Lesbian Ski Week - WinterPRIDE is shaping up with a stellar line up with special guest appearances including:  'Rock Star: SuperNova' finalist - Zayra, 'RuPaul's Drag Race' 2010 Winner - Tyra Sanchez, 'Last Comic Standing' finalist - Michele Balan and DJs Eddie Baez, Ted Eiel, Adam Dreaddy, and Nick Bertossi.

WinterPRIDE tops Gay Ski Week lists

WinterPRIDE Gay Ski Week takes place March 1-8 in Whistler. WinterPRIDE has been named as the Number #1 Gay Ski Event in the World by Gay.com and PlanetOut.com and was recently named 'Best in the World' by the UK's Guardian newspaper.

First ever PRIDE House for 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games

GayWhistler, the producers of the annual WinterPRIDE festival, has just secured Pan Pacific Whistler Village Centre as a partner in hosting the first ever PRIDE House during the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.

"We are so excited to be able to work with Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, a hotel chain that embraces similar values we hold dear; the value to be authentic, the value to embrace diversity and the value to be inclusive. Together, we will create a safe space for our gay and lesbian community and their allies to go to during the Olympics," says Dean Nelson, CEO of GayWhistler.

PRIDE House will be a haven where Olympic and Paralympic athletes, coaches, family, fans and allies to come out and be their authentic selves regardless of sexual identity or preference. PRIDE House will be a hip lounge where guests can chill and watch the games, trade pins or just hang out and meet other "kewl" open minded individuals. "It is our desire to have a couple key OUT celebrities, such as Ellen DeGeneres or Neil Patrick Harris, to come out and be part of the magic of PRIDE House," continues Nelson. Jim Douglas, General Manager of Pan Pacific Whistler said, "We are proud to be chosen as the host venue for this historical PRIDE House. We have always welcomed everyone to our properties with open arms and our team has always enjoyed the week of WinterPRIDE, so this was a natural and easy decision for us to embrace."

One week to WinterPRIDE

We are now just a week away from the big festival of WinterPRIDE. The Official Program guides have now hit the streets, Rainbow flags are being hung around the village, the resort is anticipating your arrival and everyone is buzzing with excitement.

Lots going on at WinterPRIDE this year

Some of the events that are not to be missed at this year's WinterPRIDE in Whistler are the end of the week Mr. Gay World Grand Finale and the United Colors of WinterPRIDE Fashion Show.

The Mr. Gay World Finale will be hosted by Canada's own openly gay Olympic Gold Medallist Mark Tewksbury (pictured) - and it is a chance to see 24 amazing men from around the world.

You can also get a good look at them at the United Colors of WinterPRIDE Fashion show, hosted by Canadian Actor Charlie David from Dante's Cove and featuring some of the hottest new Fashion from Priape on Thursday for only $40.

Both of these events have a limited number of seats so remember to book early.

WinterPRIDE isn't just for skiers

WinterPRIDE is very excited to be expanding its non-skier programming this year. They have outdoor and indoor sports, health and wellness and of course culinary. WinterPRIDE will be working with various groups to bring you a line-up of exciting and unique events to help make your stay in Whistler even more fun. They are working with Barefoot Wines to bring you wine tastings, Karen McCormick, Executive Chef for both Behind the Grind, and Quinny's Café will be leading Singles & Sex Food, and the Sauciest Sauce session. Roger's Chocolates will be providing their wonderful chocolate at the Singles & Sex Food as well as teaching the Sweets for your Sweetheart course and help you make delicious hand made chocolates just in time for your special person on Valentines Day.

But if it is all about you and your wellness, join Patrick, co-founder of MASC, a Vancouver-based skincare & lifestyle boutique for Skincare 101, or try the Making Happiness Happen workshop followed by Laughing Yoga. WinterPRIDE 2009: Mr. Gay World Competition

Who will win? February 4-8, 2009 is the global final challenge to find the man that will be crowned Mr. Gay World. His mission is to work with the international delegation to lead them in a coordinated effort to fight for equality for all humans, specifically the LGBT community. The 24 contestants represent all regions of the planet and have been chosen by their country/region to stand up and be the face of their community.

The Mr. Gay World Competition in Whistler will have various challenges that will test each of the delegates strength in leadership, charisma, intelligence and being a positive role model and ambassador / spokesperson for the global cause of equality, respect and understanding.

Time's running out for early booking for WinterPRIDE

There are now just seven days left in the Early Booking Discounts for this season's WinterPRIDE. If you have not already booked your accommodation and event passes the next seven days is the best time to do it in. Remember your ski pass includes the World Recording Breaking Peak 2 Peak Gondola for free.
