DJ Harvey - Wildest Dream

DJ Harvey's Wildest Dreams on Nowness.com

Today, DJ Harvey reveals the video for "Last Ride," the latest single to emerge from his lovingly received Wildest Dreams project. Streaming exclusively on NOWNESS, the George Trimm-directed film is a cool cut of retrofitted surfadelica. It's a reminder that Harvey first conceived Wildest Dreams to score a friend's surf movie, the way The Sandals did a whole album for the shimmering seminal 1966 classic The Endless Summer. The video for "Last Ride" is Harvey's edit of the surf footage.

After the jump is a summary of the many upgrades at CSCUSA resorts guests will enjoy during the 2014-15 ski season.

Study examines LGBT youths in L.A. foster programs

LGBT youths in the foster care system are twice as likely as their non-LGBT counterparts to report poor treatment, the study notes.

DOD commission explores options for openly transgender military service

A report released yesterday by a commission of retired generals and Defense Department officials has found that the Pentagon could open the Armed Forces to transgender applicants immediately without major changes to existing regulations.

"[F]ormulating and implementing inclusive policy is administratively feasible and neither excessively complex nor burdensome," the report said. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel (pictured) indicated earlier this year that he is open to reviewing the military's policy on transgender service.

Judges dismantle arguments against Ind., Wis. marriage bans

A three-judge panel of a federal appeals court last week expressed strong skepticism over the constitutionality of Indiana's and Wisconsin's marriage equality bans. The judges harshly questioned attorneys defending the ban and disputed the idea that the bans were not causing harm to adopted children of same-sex couples. The panel's ruling will likely be appealed to the Supreme Court.

Sometimes the best satisfaction at the end of a tough hike, besides that “ah, I’ve made it!” moment, is being greeted with amazing views. And nothing quite adds to the views of stunning mountain valleys and peaks like a tall, cascading waterfall. Colorado is filled with beautiful mountain waterfalls that are not to be missed. One Colorado announces 2014 legislative endorsements

From Dave Montez, Executive Director, One Colorado:

LGBT Coloradans and our families know how important elections are -- and we've seen firsthand the difference a pro-equality majority can make. In 2012, we watched our state legislature shut down over civil unions, simply because opponents of equality wanted to use our families as a political football.
But after that painful defeat two years ago, we stepped up. With your support, One Colorado talked to tens of thousands of voters on the phone and at their doors -- and together, we elected a fair-minded majority. Since then, we’ve made significant progress. We passed civil unions and stronger workplace protections for our families, repealed Colorado’s own version of the anti-immigrant “show me your papers” law, and expanded access to health care for LGBT Coloradans.

Still, as we head into the 2014 election, we know our work isn’t done. Our goal is full equality for all Coloradans. Click here to see which pro-equality candidates have pledged to stand up for our families at the Capitol, and help us ensure they win in November.
Our list of state legislative endorsements includes 47 leaders -- Democrats and Republicans -- who will work to advance a fair and just Colorado alongside Governor Hickenlooper and Attorney General candidate Don Quick, who we endorsed last month. Their support and their advocacy will be vital to our success, so we need your help to get the message out and make sure they come out on top!

In 2012, some of our endorsed candidates won their race by less than a 100-vote margin -- that's razor-thin. We can't leave anything to chance, so click here to find out how you can help elect a pro-equality majority on November 4th!
Remember: we're not at the finish line yet. It's going to take allies at the Capitol and at the state level to finish the job. Over the weeks remaining until Election Day, we're going to be in a full-on sprint -- can we count on you to have our back?

Moses Gunn Collective - Shalala

Moses Gunn Collective is a 4-piece psych-rock band from Brisbane, Australia. Combining psychedelic dream pop with soulful crooning and howling riffs, the band creates music that feels classic and refreshing all at once. The sound comes from an eclectic mix of established musicians and draws from their individual projects (Orphans Orphans, The Belligerents, The Furrs, Morning Harvey, The Family Jordan). After a few years establishing themselves as local favourites in the exploding Brisbane music scene the boys have now been introduced nationally and to the world, with their latest single "Shalala" scoring national radio rotation, video airplay on the Australian cable music channel Channel [V], and critical acclaim throughout the international blog community.

A blissed out ode to death, “Shalala” is a dreamy psych-rock anthem that draws you in and swallows you up. Life ain't fair, but we're all gonna die someday so don't get hung up on the little things and don't be afraid. Forget your worries and dive deep into the melancholic beauty you're lucky enough to experience. Don't bow your head when you lie in your deathbed, just sing "Shalala".
