Brighton, UK's Fear of Men have shared an Eleanor Hardwick and Sam Boullier directed video for "Trauma," one of the previous singles from the band's upcoming album, Fall Forever. Stereogum, who premiered the video today are calling it "powerful." Fall Forever is available for pre-order now, and out June 3rd on Kanine Records.
Daniel Falvey of the band said "for this video we were interested in bringing the album cover to life - exploring the tension in that image and the dichotomy it depicts of intimacy and resistance. Incorporating this image, Eleanor and Sam's treatment reflects Jess's lyrics in depicting two dancers grappling with trauma in the form of black liquid that engulfs them."
The most terrifying feeling in the world is the moment when the plane touches down. You are gracefully sailing through the sky inside a metal tube, then suddenly you're jarred forward as the retro-boosters, or whatever they're called, instantaneously jerk you forward as the plane attempts to land. You feel the rubber tires skidding out of control, attempting to gain traction. A deafening metallic screech fill your ears. The floor underfoot feels as if it will tear away any second.
Every time I fly, I dread this sensation. Yet, I would never let this terror, as I see it, stop me from flying. Even though every time I take an airplane trip, I have night terrors for weeks. It's simple to understand that you can't have a vacation. A trip via airplane, without this 60 seconds of absolute soul scratching terror. It is the good stuff that happens on vacation you have remember. The bad part, fades away.
It's been a week since I took a plane to New York. The purpose of the trip was to attend a reception for my ex, Dalton. A wedding reception, for his wedding to his partner. Who he married. He with his new, me with my new. Although; is wasn't that long ago the it was he and I getting married. Well, long compared to the life-span of a Great Dane. If we had received a Great Dane as a wedding gift, Duke, as we would have named him, would probably, even with the best veterinary care, died four years ago. But, short compared to my memory.
Please don't get me wrong, I am not in any way pining away for a relationship from ancient history. It would be like me wishing I could wander the halls of The Great Library of Alexandria. Nor am I discontented. I have finally found someone to whom I mesh with in an astounding amount of layers. So, I bought a $700 suit and showed up on time. My hand in the hand of this amazing individual. What I am asking is, can you imagine standing up in front of your family and friends and make a promise for ever and always, then live long enough to see the other half make that promise to another. As the reception began, I began to hear the lowering of landing gear; quiet at first, then louder. Know-one else in the reception hall seemed to hear it. Suddenly a thud. I was thrust forward as shaking rocked the room. Every word; every speech, drowned out by a mechanical screeching sound. Rubber tires attempting to gain traction. My heart being stopped as it gets forced out of my chest. Then... the tires get traction... The room slowed and the mechanical scream subsided as quickly as it started.
I fear landings. More than I let on. They terrify me. They leave me a trembling child. Yet, if I avoided the landing, I would miss sailing through the sky. I get enormous joy knowing that Dalton is truly happy. That I shared a small part of his affirmation to Brian, legally his husband. The bad part will fade away. The Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities will hold auditions for the workshop of the new musical, I’ll Be Home for Christmas at the Arvada Center, 6901 Wadsworth Blvd., on June 6, 2016. The Arvada Center production will be directed by Gavin Mayer with musical direction by David Nehls, choreography by Kitty Skillman Hilsabeck. The Artistic Producer is Rod A. Lansberry.
Auditions are on June 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., by appointment only. Call the Arvada Center Box Office at 720-898-7200 to schedule an appointment time. Please do not contact the production staff to schedule an appointment. Actors must be 18 years & older to audition. Some roles may be pre-cast.
Experienced performers with strong acting and singing abilities are needed. See the character breakdown (below) for specifics on available roles. Actors should prepare 16-32 bars from a song appropriate to the style of a 1960’s TV variety show (such as Andy Williams, Perry Como and Judy Garland live Christmas shows), Please bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Recorded music or a cappella audition will eliminate casting consideration. A current headshot and résumé are required. Audio and video submissions will not be considered. Equity members must have a current equity ID card. This is an Equity Casual contract, non-equity actors will be considered. Individuals of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds are needed and encouraged to audition for all roles.

Abergel, an Israeli transgender teenager who,
against all odds, will compete in this year’s Beauty Pageant of the South. In the article,

14-year-old Romy’s transition and how in the end, a mother’s unconditional love transcends all.
Lakewood's INSPIRE Arts Week featuring free and discounted arts and cultural events returns for an extended 11 days of gallery openings, activities, classes and performances, June 1-12.
This 11-day event showcases the vibrant and rich arts culture that exists throughout Lakewood. Dozens of organizations from Lakewood Cultural Center to the Jefferson County Public Library are participating in INSPIRE Arts Week, hosting 40 exhibits, events and performances . INSPIRE Arts Week will be held at venues throughout Lakewood from Wednesday, June 1 through Sunday, June 12.
"This event just continues to amaze me. It has become a week that many people look forward to. Lakewood has so much to offer in the arts. I hope those who have not explored the arts in Lakewood will take this opportunity to get involved,” said Lorene Joos, arts programming curator for Lakewood’s Heritage, Culture & the Arts Division.

AspenOUT, serving the GLBT community of the Roaring Fork Valley and beyond since 1996, announces its grant recipients for 2016.
“We are awarding $50,000 more this year,” commented AspenOUT President Melissa Temple. “The emphasis is on programming and direct funding, such as our new local scholarship program. It is our hope that by promoting these young LGBT allies, we will be furthering the causes of equality and tolerance not just in the Roaring Fork Valley, but also wherever these young people may venture.”
Returning for its 40th year in 2017, Aspen Gay Ski Week, Aspen OUT’s annual fundraiser, generates the funds to grant local, regional and national organizations that provide support to the LGBTQ community.

The National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund is describing yesterday’s passage of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act — that would strip non-discrimination protections from the millions of employees of federal contractors— as “designed to destroy people’s livelihoods.”
“It’s an absolute disgrace that the House Majority Leadership would push this outrageous amendment that is designed to promote discrimination against LGBTQ employees of federal contractors and to destroy people’s livelihoods. Our hope is that the champions of equality will prevail and this attack on people’s right to make a living for themselves and their families will be weeded out in conference committee,” said Rea Carey, Executive Director, National LGBTQ Task Force Action Fund.
