Denver PrideFest 2010: The Return of Matthew Rush

Denver PrideFest Main Stage Entertainment Coordinator DeMarcio Slaughter confirmed today that he is bringing legendary pornstar/actor Matthew Rush (left) back to the Mile High City for OUT With A Bang, a fundraiser for Denver PrideFest, on May 16 at The Annex.

Matthew was a big hit at last year's Pride as co-emcee along with Mr. Slaughter and I can't wait to see what the two of them have in store for us.

Check out some of my Matthew Rush coverage from last year by clicking right here.

MileHighGayGuy takes on Matthew Rush

Sounds lascivious, doesn't it?

I'll be interviewing legendary pornstar Matthew Rush tomorrow (I'm calling him in a few to finalize the time) so be sure to check in later this week and see what Matthew Rush has to say about his new movie 'Brief Encounters'.

And maybe I can get a few workout pointers.

Matthew Rush to co-emcee Denver PrideFest 2009

Just got an email from Mr. DeMarcio Slaughter, Main Stage Entertainment Director of Denver PrideFest.

He tells me that adult film superstar Matthew Rush will be at Denver PrideFest all day Sunday and will be serving as co-emcee along with Mr. Slaughter himself.

PrideFest just keeps better and better!

I interviewed Matthew recently and he was looking forward to the possibility of coming out for PrideFest so it really should be an awesome event.

And Matthew won't even have to worry about getting a hotel room or anything because he can just stay at my house with me.

It'll be fun, Matthew, I promise!

Denver PrideFest 2009: MileHighGayGuy and Matthew Rush

Whoo-hoo! Best PrideFest ever! I got to meet my dream man Matthew Rush. Man, he's a big boy. Mmm-mm-mm.

I guess I could have cropped out the Port-O-Potty in the background but I'm way too exhausted from Pride to work that hard.

OnTheHunt.com: Guys at your fingertips

Have you seen Manhunt's new original content amateur gay porn site, OnTheHUNT.com? The website features real-life Manhunt members hooking up as they are filmed by some of the top stars in the adult film industry.

“We are excited to launch a new type of porn site that is markedly different than anything available today,” said Manhunt CEO, Adam Segel. “We are offering content that features real men, the kind you see on Manhunt every day. And we have already received thousands of applications.”

Mr. Segel introduced Gary Blumenthal as OnTheHUNT.com’s webmaster. “Gary brings more than ten years of experience in adult website marketing and pay site management and he will be instrumental in helping us achieve our vision of offering hot, unique, reality content unlike any other on the web.”

“The videos feature real-life Manhunt members hooking up,” explained Gary Blumenthal. “We don’t coach the guys, rehearse or primp them. These are real amateur hook ups filmed as they happen. We want to capture the entire hook up, as they are experiencing it, from beginning to end.”

The hunt for amateurs began earlier this year in a Manhunt recruitment campaign. Manhunt.net then invited select members to appear in the videos, offering them the chance to have a famous porn star visit their home to film the sexual encounter.

“We heard from all sizes, shapes and colors; as well as men into every kind of fetish scene,” continued Blumenthal. “Jocks, twinks, bears, pigs, leather guys, intergenerational couples, interracial couples, tattooed boys, muscle men, daddies, and more – all wanting to appear in the videos.”

The response from the adult film industry was equally enthusiastic. Manhunt offered professional porn stars a rare opportunity to step behind the camera and film the scenes. Among the stars to jump at the chance were Collin O’Neal, Caesar, and Jeremy Hall – all of whom are featured in the debut videos. Falcon Studios even granted permission for their lifetime exclusive Matthew Rush to demonstrate his cinematic skills. Onthehunt.com is the first time in Rush’s prolific film career that he appears in a non-Falcon property.

According to Gary Blumenthal, Onthehunt.com will premiere a brand new amateur video every Tuesday. A bonus episode, featuring behind-the-scenes b-roll, outtakes, short fetish scenes, contests and interviews will be added to the site each Thursday.

“You never know what or who you will see on OntheHUNT.com,” added Segel. “It may be the guy you’ve seen on Manhunt that you always wanted to hook up with. It may be your next door neighbor or maybe even one of your friends. OntheHUNT.com allows men access into Manhunt member’s most intimate lives.”

2nd Annual Day of Noise/GLBT Community Resource Day at Auraria Campus

Just got home from a delightful day out at the 2nd Annual Day of Noise/GLBT Community Resource Day. Along with MileHighGayGuy, other GLBT organizations with booths at the event included The Matthew Shepard Foundation, HeyDenver.org, Colorado Rush RFC, Colorado Anti-Violence Program, The GIC and The Center. It was great seeing a bunch of old friends (Bryan, Julie, Matt, Brent, etc.) and making some new ones (I'm looking at you, boys of Colorado Rush RFC!).

Thousands of people took part and it was a hugely successful event all around. Many thanks to the office of GLBT Student Services at Auraria and in particular to Steve Willich and Nick Swartwood who invited me to take part.

And now, the day in pictures:

End the Lies

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender civil rights organization, today added four new anti-gay voices to its interactive wall on EndtheLies.org, a website confronting lies and distortions repeatedly used to defeat LGBT equality measures. EndtheLies.org refutes these mistruths with respectful dialogue and grassroots action. The latest additions to the wall are right-wing groups America Forever and National Organization for Marriage, anti-gay activist Elaine Donnelly, and Hawaii State Representative Lynn Finnegan.

EndtheLies.org’s interactive wall features videos, audio, pictures, and quotes, calling out those who maliciously use lies and misinformation to interfere with the LGBT community’s path to equality. By clicking on the panels of the wall, users can access more information about those highlighted, watch videos, add comments on multimedia discussion boards, and learn how to take action to counteract their misdeeds.

“I can think of no person or group more worthy of inclusion in EndtheLies.org’s interactive wall than America Forever, the National Organization for Marriage, Elaine Donnelly and Hawaii State Representative Lynn Finnegan,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “Again and again, opponents of equality have claimed one shallow victory after another by telling lies about who we are as individuals, as loving couples and as families. These lies must be called out for what they are every time the right-wing seeks to derail our progress by spreading distortions and inciting fear mongering.”

Read more after the jump.

America Forever, a Utah-based group, has been faxing hateful flyers denouncing marriage for lesbian and gay couples to businesses in Vermont, where marriage equality legislation is currently under consideration in the state legislature. The group claims that marriage for lesbian and gay couples would trample on the rights of children and that “HRC of the homosexuals is the most powerful lobbying group in the world.”

National Organization for Marriage (NOM) created an anti- marriage equality radio ad playing in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. NOM’s website falsely and outlandishly warns that “religious groups may be denied the use of parks and other public facilities, unless they endorse gay marriage.” The three targeted states are all considering pro-LGBT equality legislation.

Elaine Donnelly, President of the Center for Military Readiness, claims that allowing lesbians and gays to serve openly in the military will sanction “inappropriate passive/aggressive actions common in the homosexual community” and “the ensuing sexual tension will hurt discipline and morale.”

Hawaii State Minority Leader, Rep. Lynn Finnegan, voted against HB 444, a Hawaii civil unions bill. She said, “If we push to have government certify or make legal a union or marriage between the same sex, I believe that we push what is accepted to what will be promoted.”

The EndtheLies.org interactive wall includes videos, audio, pictures, and quotes from the anti-gay figures it highlights. By clicking on the panels of the wall, users can access more information about those on the wall, watch videos, add comments on multimedia discussion boards, and learn how to take action to counteract their misdeeds. Along with the four new additions, the wall currently features the American Family Association (AFA), the elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Oklahoma State Representative Sally Kern, and Utah State Senator Chris Buttars, Proposition 8 lawyer Ken Starr, right-wing media personality Rush Limbaugh, and GOP Chairman Michael Steele. Users can also nominate their own candidates for inclusion on the wall.

“Tools like EndtheLies.org will be critical to our community’s upcoming legislative battles, including passage of the Matthew Shepard Act in 111th Congress,” continued Solmonese.

National and Philadelphia LGBTQ Leaders Call on Senators to Reject Attorney General Nominee Jeff Sessions

Yesterday, national, state, and local civil rights leaders and LGBTQ advocates discussed the nomination of Jeff Sessions as U.S. Attorney General and lifted up the voices of local leaders calling on United States senators, including Senators Bob Casey and Pat Toomey, to oppose the Sessions’ nomination. The event was a part of a broad, national effort to call out Sessions on his record of hostility towards LGBTQ people, people of color, Muslims, and historically marginalized communities.

Stacey Long Simmons, Director of Public Policy & Government Affairs of National LGBTQ Task Force, said “The person who leads the Department of Justice should be someone who values the dignity and worth of all human beings and not those he or she chooses. Sen. Sessions’ record reveals him to be a person who’s on the wrong side of history. What’s worse is he’s actively worked to cause harm to LGBTQ people by voting against Don't Ask, Don't Tell repeal, being against marriage equality, opposing including LGBTQ people in the federal hate crime law and not supporting transgender-inclusive public accommodations protections that include restrooms, etc.”

Tyrone Hanley, Policy Counsel of National Center for Lesbian Rights, said “Senator Sessions has a well-documented record of opposing bipartisan reforms widely acknowledged by leaders in both parties as critical to improving the fairness of the U.S. criminal justice system. Senator Sessions also continues to support draconian mandatory minimum sentences, despite their documented ineffectiveness and racially disparate impact. Recently, he opposed a bipartisan attempt to reduce unnecessarily long federal prison sentences for nonviolent offenses by helping to block the Sentencing Reform and Corrections Act, which was supported by top Republican lawmakers."

Ted Martin, Executive Director of Equality Pennsylvania, said “The Attorney General is known as the “people’s lawyer” who defends Americans who are being denied their constitutional rights. While Senator, Jeff Sessions voted against letting gays and lesbians serve openly in the military, he voted to deny same-sex couples the right to marry, he voted against including LGBT people under Hate Crimes protections, and he voted to deny same-sex spouses Social Security benefits. Jeff Sessions has clear record of opposing LGBT people’s rights, the rights of people of color, and women’s rights. He will not be the 'people’s attorney.'”

Charlene Kurman, Vice President of the National Council of Jewish Women's Philadelphia chapter, said “Throughout his career, Sessions used his position of authority to characterize LGBTQ people and same-sex marriage and relationships as "explicit" and "dangerous" to "traditional American moral principles. Under the Obama administration, the Department of Justice has worked for LGBTQ equality, including protecting transgender students. One of the most dangerous things Sessions could do as Attorney General is choose not to defend the basic civil rights of LGBTQ individuals"

Background information:

Jeff Sessions has consistently voted against rights and protections for LGBTQ people. In 2009, when he voted against the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Act, Sessions showed his true colors when he said, “Today, I’m not sure women or people with different sexual orientations face that kind of discrimination. I just don’t see it.” Not only that, but he’s voted for a constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, against taking up a bill that would have provided workplace discrimination protection for LGBTQ people, and twice against repealing the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.

As reported by a coalition of organizations, Sessions’ initial Senate Judiciary Questionnaire had hundreds of concerning omissions. Despite a supplement of new entries submitted weeks later, a second report demonstrated that his application is still astonishingly incomplete. Furthermore, Sessions has grossly misrepresented his civil and human rights record by claiming that cases he had “no substantive involvement in” were among the most significant he personally handled. Sessions’ disregard for the Senate requirements shows a fundamental disregard for the office of Attorney General and for the Senate itself.

Republican senators’ decision to rush the confirmation hearing of their colleague and friend Senator Sessions silenced the voices of the American people, specifically those most vulnerable, who were directly impacted by hostile legislation put forth by Senator Sessions during his time in Congress. Sessions’ 30-year record of insensitivity and lack of respect for those in marginalized communities must be discussed.

Aspen Gay Ski Week Returns for 38th Year

Aspen Gay Ski Week returns for its 38th year from January 11 to 18, 2015. Proceeds from the event will benefit Roaring Fork Gay and Lesbian Community Fund, which has promoted tolerance, understanding and diversity through education, community action and service since 1996.

In 2014, AGSW welcomed 5,000 guests to the legendary mountain town, featuring pristine piste on four mountains, lively après-ski parties and nightly events--including a Comedy Night with Mario Cantone from Sex in the City.

"Our event injects over $1.5 million into the local Aspen economy in one week, selling 2,500 hotel room nights and thousands of ski lift tickets," remarked Pamela Herr, organizer of AGSW. "From magazines and blogs from Australia to Brazil to Germany, AGSW 2014 was read, seen and heard about internationally."
