Employment
discrimination because of transgender status is sex-based bias and
therefore impermissible, according to a three-judge panel of the 11th
U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, which ruled unanimously in favor of a
Georgia state employee, Vandy Beth Glenn (left), who was fired from her job because she had chosen to transition from man to woman.
"An individual cannot be punished
because of his or her perceived gender-nonconformity," one judge wrote.

Georgia court reverses cruel decision that kept gay dad out of kids' lives
Georgia's top court recently undid a travesty of a ruling in which a gay Georgia man's kids were banned from having any contact with gay people in their father's life.
Justice Robert Benham wrote that the earlier ruling "flew in the face" of public policy encouraging divorced parents to participate in the raising of their children.
Whoo-hoo! Nice work, Georgia.
