The Board of Directors for the Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association -- North America (GLISA NA) is pleased to announce that the great American city of Denver, Colorado, USA is a finalist city to host the 2015 North America Outgames.
The original finalist cities included Denver and Houston, Texas, USA, however Houston withdrew its bid in early February 2011 due to additional event commitments for the city. Denver is now the sole finalist city for the honor of hosting the 2015 North America Outgames. The next steps in the bid process include the Site Selection Committee’s review of the bid from the Denver Outgames 2015 bid committee, followed by a site visit from Site Selection City members in Spring 2011.
“This is extraordinary news and anyone would be pleased to attend the 2015 Outgames; that the event would be in America’s Mile High City is a huge bonus,” says Greg Larocque, President of GLISA North America. “Denver has an active LGBTQ presence in a larger inclusive metropolitan community, has a well-established reputation as a very livable location, has a significant political climate to support the delivery of an Outgames, and has unique features that they no doubt will include in their bid presentation.”

Meeting tonight to discuss bid to bring OutGames 2015 to Denver
The USA may have lost the 2018 and 2022 Bid for the World Cup but, right here in Denver, there is a group of athletes trying to bring another international sports event home to Colorado.
Monday December 6th, 2010, there will be the first Community Wide Meeting to bring together the best ideas for bidding on the GLISA (Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association) North American OutGames, which will take place in 2015. The event is free and open to the public.
Team Colorado, a 501c3 non-profit umbrella sports organization for the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community, has formed the "Denver OutGames 2015 Bid Committee" to lead Denver's efforts.
"The LGBT community contributes greatly to the social, economic and political quality of life in Colorado. We are excited to support Denver’s bid for the 2015 North America OutGames" states Colorado Governor-elect / Denver Mayor John W. Hickenlooper.
