Perez Hilton and Bunim/Murray Producing “Gay Dads of New York”

Perez Hilton today announced he’s partnering with Bunim/Murray Productions, producers of The Real World, Project Runway and Keeping Up With The Kardashians, and OMG Productions to develop Gay Dads of New York. Set in New York City, the reality docu-series will follow Hilton, who recently became a single father, and a group of gay dads, single and married, as they support each other through the ups and downs of raising children.

“What is your typical American family like? These days, it looks a lot like mine! I am honored and excited to bring to television a show that will be filled with love, humor and drama. What will it not be? Trashy or boring! I am thrilled to have partnered with the leaders and innovators of reality television, Bunim/Murray, to create a program that is compelling and real,” said Hilton. “Up until now people know me more for my opinions than who I am. This show will give viewers the opportunity to get to know the 'real' Perez Hilton and my family, as well as some other really dynamic gay dads, and the women that make up their support system. I am a recent transplant to New York City, looking for friends and open to - hopefully - love. To new beginnings and this exciting new venture!"

“I immediately responded to the ‘Gay Dads of New York’ concept because my partner and I were part of one of the first gay dads support groups in Los Angeles back in 1998,” said Jonathan Murray, Chairman of Bunim/Murray Productions. "Whether it's a single dad like Perez, or married gay dads, becoming a gay parent affects your relationships with family and friends, all of which will make fascinating stories.”

Bunim/Murray Productions is currently casting the series, looking for gay dads in the New York City area who want to be in a support group with Hilton. Click here for more information.

Perez Hilton releases Pop Up music compilation

Perez Hilton’s “Pop Up: #1,” the first compilation from the new Perez Hilton music series, was released on August 7 and quickly moved up the iTunes Top 100 chart to land just 24 hours later at #72.

The disc’s first-day success gave pop music lovers, fans and Hilton himself extra cause to celebrate at an exclusive, invitation-only launch party for the music compliation held on Tuesday, August 7 at On the Rox at The Roxy nightclub in Hollywood, Calif.

Hand-picked by Hilton, whose influence on music Newsweek has compared to Oprah’s book club, this eclectic, infectious mix of music features some of pop music’s best new artists and rising stars. Artists include: Kerli, Fedez, Capital Cities, Jesse Marco, VanJess, The Cataracs, My Name is Kay, Chantal Claret, Hi Fashion, Donkeyboy, Breedlove & Chew Fu, French Fries, Zowie, Alphabeat, Vandalism & Static Revenger, Pascal & Pearce (featuring Juliet Harding) and Manufactured Superstars (featuring Scarlett Quinn).

More than 200 guests attended the August 7 launch party in Hollywood at On the Rox at The Roxy. Guests took self-photos in the “Pop Up” photo booth, and danced into the night enjoying performances by disc artists Kerli, VanJess, My Name is Kay, The Cataracs, Static Revenger and DJ Jesse Marco.

Matthew Shepard Foundation refuses donation from Perez Hilton

The Matthew Shepard Foundation has just released a statement regarding reports that Perez Hilton had plans to donate proceeds from his lawsuit against the manager of the Black Eyed Peas.

They have refused the offer.

Read all about it after the jump.

The Matthew Shepard Foundation was surprised to learn this morning via media reports that blogger Perez Hilton (Mario Lavandeira) has announced he plans to donate, to our organization, the proceeds of a lawsuit he is contesting over an altercation which has been widely reported in recent days.

We had no advance notice or contact from Mr. Hilton or his representatives regarding this proposal, nor any communication since he posted this plan to his website.

We do not know the details of the lawsuit, whether it has been filed, the nature of his claims or the likely outcome. But because the lawsuit presumably involves the physical attack prompted by Mr. Hilton's admitted use of an anti-gay slur, the Foundation will be unable to accept any funds obtained in such a manner.

We very much appreciate the generosity of the offer to support our continuing work to memorialize Matthew through activism in defense of sexual minorities and in favor of understanding, compassion, and acceptance. But because so much of our work involves education to reduce the use of hateful language against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons, or those so perceived, it would be inappropriate for us to benefit financially from circumstances in which such a verbal attack was involved.

While we applaud Mr. Hilton's apology to the LGBT community and their loved ones for his use of such a slur, we also feel compelled to point out that use of epithets can often lead to physical violence, as it appears it may have in this case, and that the Matthew Shepard Foundation has worked for more than 10 years to bring to people's attention the consequences of hateful or inolerant language.

GLAAD issues statement about Perez/will.i.am fight

Here's what GLAAD has to say:

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) today issued the following statement in response to a video posted by celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, in which he made the following remarks about a confrontation with will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas and members of the band’s entourage.

"And that is when I made the split-second decision - that I was gonna say what I thought was the worst possible thing that thug [will.i.am] would ever want to hear. As I was standing my ground - without being violent or physical which I would never do - I told him - and you know what? I don't need to respect you and you're a f**. You're gay and stop being such a f***ot."

"These are vulgar anti-gay slurs that feed a climate of hatred and intolerance toward our community," said Rashad Robinson, Senior Director of Media Programs at GLAAD. “For someone in our own community to use it to attack another person by saying that it is, quote, ‘The worst possible thing that thug would ever want to hear,’ is incredibly dangerous. It legitimizes use of a slur that is often linked to violence against our community. And it sends a message that it is OK to attempt to dehumanize people by exploiting anti-gay attitudes.”

“We have reached out to Hilton and asked him to apologize for promoting this anti-gay slur, and we would ask media outlets to avoid repetition of the slur in their coverage of this story.”

Reuters is reporting that Toronto police have charged Liborio Molina, the manager of the Black Eyed Peas, with assault.

“While not all the facts in this case are known, the violence that appears to have been committed against Perez Hilton is unacceptable and ought to be condemned in the strongest possible terms,” said Robinson.

Here's what I have to say:

I'd have clocked him too. Actually, I'm surprised more people don't.

Madonna sez, My children go with me!

Madonna tweeted to Perez Hilton that a story about her dropping her kids off with their father, Guy Ritchie, for the summer was "rubbish"

Not that there would be anything wrong with that, matter of fact, there's a lot that's right with that scenario but apparantly Madonna says, "they go where I go."

Yikes! Perez Hilton as Bettie Page

Lenora Claire (I know her from World of Wonder and by 'know' I mean 'read about') has an art show in appreciation of superstar sex symbol Bettie Page and among the offerings is this startling portrait of blogger Perez Hilton as the fabulous Ms. Page. He kind of has it down in the eyes. - via Boing Boing

What do Matt Kailey and Perez Hilton have in common?

Maury Povitch.

Local author and activist, pundit and wag Matt Kailey(left) was a guest on the Maury show a few years back and now Perez Hilton(right) is following in his footsteps with an appearance on yesterday's episode.

I recently read that Perez Hilton makes $100,000 a month. I can assure you, once I hit the $100,000 a month mark, I won't have the slightest interest in appearing on Maury.

He's the worst talk show host in a sea of really bad talk show hosts.

He tries to hug people that don't want to be hugged.

So creepy.

Here's what Matt had to say about his experience on the show:

"I simply do not have the words to adequately describe my experience with the Maury Povich Show. You can take that in whatever way you wish."
