Buzzfeed ranks six of the most successful chanteuses to come out of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' and my girl Pandora Boxx comes in at number four.
What do you think, does the list hit all the right notes?

Deep Inside Pandora Boxx
By Drew Wilson
Pandora Boxx is the drag queen superstar who rocketed to fame as the Susan Lucci of 'RuPaul's Drag Race' season two. Since then, she's gone on to become one of the most popular cast members of all time and a full-time entertainer doing shows, making music and starring - alongside a bevy of bulging boy bodybuilders - in the most recent Andrew Christian video, 'After School Special' (NSFW).
Why is that?

I caught up with her as she was packing for the Drag Stars At Sea Carnival Cruise (you know, the one that scandalized us all a few days ago by banning passengers from wearing drag and threatening to disembark any gay folks who offended the tender sensibilities of their more valuable customers, families with children) and we had a nice chat about her experiences with 'RuPaul's Drag Race', channeling Jessica Lange for her role as a glue-sniffing nun, and how she prefers her cars and penises.
Drew: Nothing like kicking off an interview with an awkward question so let's just get this out of the way. WTF is up with that whole bizarre Carnival Cruise situation?
Pandora: Well, I mean, I got the same email that everybody going on the cruise got at the same
time they all got it and I think that the timing was really horrible, because it’s only five
days before the cruise, and I’m not sure what they were thinking when they
booked a drag cruise to then say that no one can go in drag to the events
except for the performers.
There are a lot of drag queens who are signed up to go on this cruise and of course they are planning to do drag. When we do shows anywhere there’s always people who are dressed up coming to the shows. It’s a form of expression and I don’t know if they were thinking much worse things were going to happen or something but, I mean, I just don’t know.
But I will say that the choice of wording was extremely poor. Honestly, I was more offended by that wording; to tell people that they would be "disembarked" if they dressed in drag? I’ve been on cruises before and I've seen people dressed more offensively than any drag queens. I’ve seen heterosexuals doing all sorts of disgusting things …

And nobody threatens them with having to walk the plank!
Exactly. So it’s disheartening to say the least. But at least they
did come through with an almost-complete apology within a 24 hour period and that, for a
big corporation is saying something. Whatever. I’m just focusing on the fact
that they did come back and say it would be OK to do drag. But it was shocking to me.
Drag queens are offensive to children? Anytime I’ve seen a kid who asked
anything about it I just tell them it’s like celebrating Halloween every day and they’re
totally fine with it.They get it.
Exactly. So with that out of the way, reason I wanted to talk to you in the first place was because I saw you in the new Andrew Christian/White Party Palm Springs video. Despite all of the eye-candy and antics going on in that video, my eye was immediately drawn to you. How'd you get involved in that project and what was filming like?
Well, I know Brad Hammer over at Andrew Christian and we've been acquaintances and online
friends for a long time and that’s how the dialogue started between us. I'm like, if someone
promotes me, I promote them! I think their videos are genius because
essentially you are watching a commercial but because they’re so good and so
hot and just basically the best marketing ever, you never realize that that’s what it is, a commercial. Well,
and sometimes soft-core porn. But they do a great job with them and I love them and
was excited to do it.
Well, I’m a huge fan of American Horror Story. Jessica Lange is
the most amazing nun ever and I thought of her and said, "Oh, yeah, I can be a nun." It was a lot of fun. Everybody who works there is so nice
and it was so fun and I got to molest the really hot gym coach a little bit.
Just a little bit?
A tiny bit.
Well, that's better than no molestation at all.
Yes, it is.
Do you personally own any Andrew Christian panties?
I do. And then they actually loaned me some underwear and models
for my new video. I did a cover of Samantha Fox’s "I Wanna Have Some Fun" and it
should be out very soon.
Sounds heavenly! You also have another song out right now, "Nice Car (Shame About Your Penis)," which is about you not liking guys with nice cars and small weiners. One of my readers who shall go nameless (Tink) wonders if you do like guys with nice cars and big weiners. Just between you and me, he's got a nice car and a big penis.
(Laughing) Oh, I very much like those types of guys. But the song isn’t actually just about guys
with nice cars and small penises - it’s about douche-bags with nice cars and
small penises. I’m not prejudiced against a smaller penis at all. Although, I do like some girth.
Ha! So another big thing you were recently involved in was RuPaul's All Star Drag Race. How do you feel about Chad Michaels snatching the tiara?
Chad’s an amazing entertainer and he's very solid. He rarely messes up and is really
consistent and was great all season. I’m happy with it. Actually, everyone in the top four was so good I think they
could have gotten it.
Yeah, it's like, whoever you were rooting for, nobody could be mad at Chad for winning. They were all great.
Yeah, and everybody was going to lose except for one person
anyway. There were so many fan favorites packed in that little season.
Now, I'm a big Drag Race fan and I was particularly excited to see you come back because you got a little
bit of a raw deal on your season …
(Laughs) Just slightly.
Right? So you were looking fabulous and in it to win it but then you got teamed up with Mimi Imfurst and it seemed like you just
gave up.
Well, you know I’ve heard that from …
Uh-oh! You've heard that from everybody and their gay uncle? Should I just go ahead and punch myself in
the neck for asking?
Oh, goodness no! I just didn’t feel like I was giving up. Well, I
guess there was kind of a moment where I was like, “I give up” because I just
felt, like no matter what we did, we were never going to go very far.
Why is that?
I just
don’t think they would have allowed her to go very far. She’s campy and goofy
and I think she’s hysterical and talented but she just doesn't fit the Drag
Race aesthetic at all and she is never going to fit the mold of the things they
want and the things they like.
For me, I was like "Oh, my God." Because I think she was
just cast for controversy. I wasn’t mad at her … and by the way, everything I’m
telling you now, I told her then. Mimi’s not stupid. She knows why she was brought back and knew it was going to
be an uphill battle.
How was All Stars different for you from your first season?
I came in with a lot more confidence this time. I knew I had
a better wardrobe because I make more money now. I’m a full-time entertainer
and I travel and I have more costumes and stuff. And I’ve played the game
before. I felt like I knew what was going to happen and I was ready for it. But
then they threw in that twist ...
Ugh! So lame.
Yeah, that look on my face? That stank face? It wasn’t
because of Mimi. It was because I knew Jujubee was going to pick Raven. I knew it for a fact. That whole look was because it really felt to me like a punch in the balls. I knew all the hard work I had put in was just … gone.
But I think what I learned is
that I kind of got too in my head and should have just been happier and not
made so many stank faces. And there were a lot of times when Mimi and I got along. When we
were working on the challenges and after she did my makeup all right we got
along fine and worked together but, you know, that doesn’t make for interesting TV.
Yeah. And in addition to that lame twist of having you guys partner up, we only got six effing episodes. I don't get it. Why would you have an all star season with only half the usual number of episodes? Makes no sense.
Yeah, the team idea is pretty much universally hated.
Everybody hated it. I think I know of one person who liked it. And I don't know why they only wanted six episodes.
That one person is crazy and if I ever meet him, I will literally kick his ass. It was a terrible
decision. Lame. Didn’t let you guys shine, didn't give the fans what they wanted. Ridiculous.
Yeah, I think the viewers really wanted to see everybody
be able to compete and do their best. That twist, we weren’t happy about it and
the viewers weren’t happy about it. But for whatever reason, they only had the
six episodes and they wanted to get as many fan favorite queens on the show as
possible. I think they’ve realized that people didn’t like it.
So what's next for you, Ms. Boxx?
You know, I was just asking myself that same question. It’s like, what
is next? There’s so much I want to do. I want to work on new projects. I want
to stay relevant. I’m working on more music. And I’m putting together a stand
up comedy show I want to tour with and I have a short film coming out in January. Hopefully people like it.
Yeah, why not? When projects come in, I just say yes!
What would be your dream project?
Oh, my dream would be to have my own TV show but
that’s a process and a half. But I’m still holding out for it.
We touched on this topic earlier but I'd like to come back to the topic of the show's aesthetic for a minute. Obviously, that was the judges' issue with you. You were this great, funny, kind of campy queen and they didn't want that so they pretended ...
You know, I was certainly not thrilled to have been
portrayed like I had this horrendous wardrobe ... if you go back and watch you
will see that I did not even have the worst wardrobe on the show. There were plenty
of people in ugly outfits on that stage that never once got called out for them.
I did go back and watch. And yes there were.
And that’s fine. OK, maybe I had some ugly-ass outfits, but that’s what
they reduced me to? That's how they portrayed me? Ugly outfits. And I didn’t realize that that’s what I was
to them until after I got kicked off and realized, "Oh my god, I was the girl who couldn’t win." The
challenge that I got sent home for? I actually for a second there thought I was going
to win.
So did I, girl!
The judges had really liked everything I did but when I went out
there I realized something else had gone on I wasn't aware of and it was like, OMG! And then when
they said it was me and Jujubee on the bottom I knew it was good-bye, Pandora. It
didn’t matter what I did, they just loved Jujubee way too much to send her home.
But Entertainment Weekly said I had the most controversial elimination of the season and that I was their pick for America’s Next DragSuperstar. I honestly think I have a lot of the fanbase that I have because I
got kicked off when I did. And I’m kind of happy about that now! Then? No. Absolutely
not. I was not happy.
Did you spiral into an all-consuming depression?
You know, I did actually. It’s like, you leave the show you
go home, and then there’s so many months before it actually airs. For a long time I was just like OMG,
I thought I killed my drag career. I thought I was going to be a total laughingstock. But then when it played, it was like 'Hmm, this is a little bit
different'. The audience reacted well to me and people didn’t like the
criticisms I was getting so I was like YESSS!!!
They understood the magic and mystery of Pandora Boxx! OK, I know you have to get ready for your cruise but before I let you go, is there anything you'd like to say to readers of MileHighGayGuy?
Just make sure everybody visits my website PandoraBoxx.com!

According to Logo, in a move Tyra Banks wished she dreamed up, "America's Next Drag Superstar" hopefuls Chad Michaels, Phi Phi O'Hara, Sharon Needles and millions of fervent fans were left on the edge of their seats as no winner was revealed on last night's season finale of "RuPaul's Drag Race."
For
the first time ever, "America's Next Drag Superstar" will be crowned in
front of a live studio audience during the taping of the reunion
episode in Los Angeles
later this week. Want to help influence RuPaul's decision between now

to the fans to help make his decision! To catch all the live, raw drag
drama, tune-in to the reunion episode on Monday, April 30th at 9PM ET/PT on Logo.
When delivering news of the finale shocker RuPaul said, "RuPaul's Drag Race fans are the most loyal and enthusiastic in the world. The race is so close that I couldn't resist sharing the excitement of the final crowning moment with an audience of superfans." He also added, "This is just the beginning of 'Drag Race' live events for future seasons!"
In the end, only one contestant will have what it takes to win the coveted title of "America's Next Drag Superstar," and a prize package that includes a headlining spot on Logo's Drag Race Tour, featuring ABSOLUT® Vodka, cocktails perfected, a one-of-a-kind trip courtesy of AlandChuck.travel, a lifetime supply of NYX Cosmetics and a cash prize of $100,000.

A Q&A with Raven from RuPaul's Drag Race
A Q&A with Raven
by Drew Wilson
I love me some 'RuPaul's Drag Race.' And while season two runner-up Raven was not my cup of tea (I was Team Tatianna all the way), she brought the drama, looked flawless doing it, and week after week she managed to give the judges what they were looking for.
Raven will be appearing tonight at Tracks for the very first stop on the nationwide RuPaul's Drag Race Tour and while I didn't have a chance to chat with her like I did with Tyra and Jujubee, I was able to email her a few questions and find out about her best and worst experiences on the show, the meanest thing she's ever done in real life, and what Tatianna was really like.
What did you hope to accomplish by appearing on 'RuPaul's Drag Race?'
Well first of all I wanted to win!!! But, I also wanted to prove that I am pretty fierce at my craft and can take my drag anywhere I want it to! I also wanted more than just Southern California to get a glimpse of what I do and make more fans of not just myself, but drag in general!!!
What were your best/worst moments/experiences doing the show?
The best would be getting to know a few of the other girls and making lifelong friendships with them and growing a stronger bond with Morgan! I also loved working with Stephan May who was my drag mother in the Golden Girls episode! He was such a delight and that was such a rewarding experience! The worst would have to be the eight hours in drag on heels in front of the judges waiting to hear the fate of yourself and the other girls...NOT SO FUN, but still worth it in the end!
Are you a villainess in real life like you were on the show?
Not at all! I am actually very sweet and down to earth. At the same though, when my opinion is asked ... be ready for it! I think confidence and the ability to speak your mind is always viewed as being a little bitchy!
What's the meanest thing you've ever said/did to somebody in real life?
UGH... I made smoothies once for myself and my brother and put a laxative in his! I know, that is so mean, but it is the meanest thing I have ever done!
What advice do you have for the queens of season three?
BE 100% PREPARED!!! Thicken your skin and remember that, whatever the outcome is, YOU are a drag superstar!!!
What was Tatianna really like? Do you think she would date me?
Well, she just might! I think you will have to take her on a date and find out what she is like!!!
Why should readers of MileHighGayGuy.com come see the show at Tracks tonight?
Tonight is going to fierce, funky, fun and fresh! Plus ... You'll get a chance to see that I am actually rather nice and approachable! And I do need to add ... we look much better in person! Those high def cameras ... UGH!
Is there anything else that you would like to say?
Thank you for having us girls out to come entertain you and for the love and support! You guys are amazing!!!!!!!!!!!

A conversation with Jujubee from RuPaul's Drag Race
A conversation with Jujubee
by Drew Wilson
With charm, uniqueness, nerve, and talent to spare, I thought the beautiful and intelligent Miss Jujubee was gonna walk away with the title on season two of 'RuPaul's Drag Race.'
Unfortunately, it turned out she had a bit of a tendency to choke during performances in front of the judges and that may have just been what allowed the stunning Tyra Sanchez to snatch the title for herself.
Jujubee is part of RuPaul's Drag Race Tour, kicking off tonight here in Denver at Tracks. We had a chance to chat recently about her experiences on the show, her new series 'Drag U,' and why you should vote for her in the NewNowNext Awards.
Jujubee! You should've won, girl. Do you hear that a lot?
You know, I do hear that a lot and I appreciate it but all of the girls have their fans and I can certainly understand why Tyra won.
So Jujubee. I love the show but after watching for two seasons I feel like I still have absolutely no idea what the judges are looking for in a winner. What do you think?
Honestly, I didn't know what they were looking for either. And there were like three episodes where I didn't even get judged so I never really was able to know exactly what to give them. I just know I didn't bring enough outfits.
Were you scrambling in the bottom of your rucksack at the end?
I had a few options left but they were all pretty slutty.
Slutty's good. You had a little bit of a tendency to choke onstage in front of the judges. What was up with that?
You know, those were just moments of me being a big bundle of nerves.
Looking back is there anything you would have changed or done differently?
Honestly I wouldn't have changed anything except maybe for packing a little bit more.
How long did you end up filming?
The top three were there right about a month. I lost like 20 pounds and didn't even realize it until I got home.
That's hot. All the magazines say that thin is in. So did you love the experience?
It was absolutely the best experience of my life. I went in there knowing what I was going to do. I knew it was a competition but I also knew it was a TV show.
You definitely brought the interest and the drama, as did Raven. You were the two who seemed to realize the importance of providing narrative thrust and dramatic interest.
I had to get my airtime, honey. Raven and I had the same idea going in. It would have been nice to win but we also really had an eye towards the longevity of our careers.
How long before you're sick of traveling and doing shows?
Never. This is what I have always wanted. I never even cared if anybody liked what I was doing as long as I was onstage.
You're part of the cast of this summer's 'Drag U.' What can we expect to see on the show?
I'm one of the professors of Drag U and what I can tell you is that we have professors from 'RuPaul's Drag Race' season one and season two who work together to help out women who have kind of lost their groove in life.
What lesson can a grooveless woman learn from a fabulous drag queen like yourself?
You know what? I do drag because I feel it empowers women. In our society women are looked at as weak and frail and I see them as being stronger than anything in the world and that's what informs my drag. Women are powerful.
I would also tell people not to take anything too seriously. Like Ru says, "what people think of you is none of your business." It all comes down to liking yourself and entertaining yourself.
RuPaul's Drag Race Tour kicks off here in Denver at Tracks. Why should people come see the show?
They need to come see Miss Tyra, Miss Raven, and Miss Juju! I've never been to Denver and I want it to be so fierce that I can't wait to come back and I know you guys can do that. I talk to Nina Flowers all the time and she says the people in Denver are so friendly and so fierce. And this tour is gonna be fierce, honey. We're gonna mix it up.
I really did think you were going to win but I was really into Tatianna. Are you guys still friends?
We are! I love Tati. She's like my little brother. And then there's Raven ...
And then, like Maude, there's Raven.
He's like my soulmate. He's great, but people don't see that because he was portrayed as the villain this season like Chanel was the first season.
Chanel got robbed! But Raven I didn't like. It's weird because, while that feels like an appropriate thing to say about a TV character, it doesn't feel like an appropriate thing to say about a real person. In any case, she did make for good TV and maybe a more pleasant person wouldn't have.
And also, sometimes the ones that seem the most pleasant aren't.
Name names!
I can't! You'll have to find out in my upcoming book! It's gonna be a picture book with recipes for cocktails and things.
What's your cocktail of choice?
Absolute Berry Acai, of course. I like it with a little club soda.
Anything you'd like to say to readers of MileHighGayGuy.com?
Yes. Please vote for me in the NewNowNext Awards. I'm nominated for most addictive reality personality.
You got my vote.
I'm up against Snooki, and I'm crazy about her. So scared of her.
She's ok but you've got this in the bag.
I'm also up against Khloe Kardashian ...
Nope.
... and Johnny Weir.
No way. The NewNowNext Awards are gonna be all wrapped up in being Jujubee. Thank you for your time and I look forward to seeing the show.
Thank you!

RuPaul's Drag Race Tour: Raven bailed on me so please enjoy a taste of Tatianna
This blog posting was supposed to be an interview with 'RuPaul's Drag Race' contestant/villainess Raven.
Raven is coming to Tracks in Denver tomorrow night as part of the RuPaul's Drag Race tour.
However, at the very last possible second Raven claimed to be sick and unable to do the interview.
Thanks a lot, Raven. I could have gone to visit my sick great-grandmother in the hospital instead of sitting around waiting on you.
Jut kidding. My great-grandmother's dead.
Anyway, since Raven bailed on me I decided to use this space to post pictures of Raven's much younger, and significantly more beautiful, arch-rival from the show, Tatianna.

A conversation with RuPaul's Drag Race winner Tyra Sanchez
A conversation with Tyra Sanchez
By Drew Wilson
RuPaul's Drag Race Tour kicks off here in Denver Friday, May 14 at Tracks. I had a chance recently to catch up with the stunningly beautiful Tyra Sanchez (emphasis on the "chez") to talk about headlining the show, her advice for drag queens who would like to follow in her footsteps, and just what exactly is so cool about Beyonce anyway.
Congratulations on winning ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’ Were you nervous going into the final judging or did you think you had it in the bag?
I think it was a little bit of both. I was a little bit nervous but I also felt like I had been doing good all season. I was pretty sure I was going to win but you never knew what the judges were going to do.
What do you think they were looking for and what did they like about you?
Well, I would say that the judges were definitely looking for someone with charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent and I showed all of those qualities.
And it couldn’t have hurt that you happen to so gorgeous.
I think it played a part but it wasn’t actually something that was talked about a lot. Pretty much the only time it was mentioned was when Martha Wash was there. I never really heard from the judges that they thought anything about it.
Were you a fan of the first season of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race?’
I was. I was a big fan of Rebecca Glasscock and I really understood where she was coming from with everybody thinking she was a bitch just because she was quiet.
What did you hope to accomplish by being on the show?
I actually wasn’t going to audition but a friend pushed me into it and I’m glad he did. I was hoping it would help with my problems but I wasn’t expecting it to solve all of them. It actually has helped out financially and that was really the biggest problem I had.
When did you start doing drag and why?
I started drag probably around 2007. I think my interest was just to imitate Beyonce and wear the same wigs and clothes and things as her.
What’s so cool about Beyonce?
Her performance and her effort. She gives 100 percent in her shows and everything she does and I try to do the same.
RuPaul's Drag Race Tour is kicking off here in Denver. Are you excited?
I can’t wait to be there. Anybody that comes to the show can definitely expect to see some drag. Big drag. Dramatic drag. It’s going to be a fun time and everybody will enjoy themselves. It will be hot.
In a nutshell, how would you describe what the show was like for you?
There was a lot of cattiness, lot of big personalities, and a lot of good drag.
Looking back, is there anything you would have changed or done differently?
I wouldn’t have changed anything. I think I did everything right because I won.
What would you say were your best and worst moments on the show?
My best moment was in the country commercial challenge because it was acting and I love acting. And my runway, with the changing of the clothes, rocked the judges.
The worst moment, but one of my favorites, was the rocker chick challenge. It was the worst because the judges didn’t like it, but it was my favorite because I really liked it and the audience was into it and screaming for me.
And you were safe no matter what you did because you had immunity.
Yeah, no matter what I did, I was safe and that was nice.
Any advice for the girls coming up on season three?
They should remain true to themselves but still do whatever the judges ask them to do as far as challenges. They just have to make sure their personalities always shine through.

RuPaul's Drag Race Tour kicks off in Denver
After a season of divas, drama and drag, the gentlemen have cooled their engines – and the best woman won.
Tyra Sanchez (below left) clawed her way to the title of “America’s Next Drag Superstar" and captured the crown during the finale of the second season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race." Now, Logo and ABSOLUT vodka are ready to sashay across the country with America’s self-proclaimed sweetheart headlining the 'RuPaul's Drag Race Tour' beginning right here in Denver on May 14 at Tracks.
The “other” Tyra, as the judges referred to her, edged out runners-up Raven (above middle) and Jujubee (above right) with her charisma, uniqueness, nerve and talent. Along with the title, Tyra received a $25,000 cash prize, courtesy of ABSOLUT and Logo, and will get a true taste of fame while headlining at top venues across the nation.
Watch for my interviews with all three girls sometime next week.

Ratings for season two finale of RuPaul's Drag Race biggest ever for Logo
Monday night’s season two finale of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race' snatched the crown as Logo’s highest-rated telecast. This was also Logo’s most watched telecast ever, drawing in 633,000 total viewers who witnessed Tyra Sanchez as she was named “America’s Next Drag Superstar.”
Additionally, 'RuPaul’s Drag Race' has become the most streamed series ever on LogoTV.com with more than 9.8 million video streams season-to-date.
“‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ has consistently shown that even underdogs can be champions,” said Dave Mace, Senior Vice President, Original Programming, Logo. “And today, this ‘little-show-that-could’ has become a national and GLAAD Media Award-winning phenomenon.”
Randy Barbato, Fenton Bailey and Tom Campbell, Executive Producers from WOW Productions collectively commented, "In our 500 years in show business, it's hard to remember a series that has stirred such a deep and passionate following. The fact that ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ celebrates what others have chosen to denigrate makes its crossover success that much more fabulous."
Fresh off the heels of the second season success, Logo announced the season three pickup of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” as well as the second season pickup of “Untucked.” “RuPaul’s Drag Race” order has been upped from 12 to 16 episodes and “Untucked” from 10 to 13 episodes. The new seasons are slated to premiere on the network in winter of 2011 and casting is currently underway. For more info, check out Rupaulsdragracecasting.com.
