BOO(BS)! Elvira's training her own replacement

The next Elvira lives among us, and the original Mistress of the Dark searches for the new Elvira with a series of tasks and challenges to see which of the thirteen hopefuls is worthy of becoming the new Mistress. Growing up in Southern California in the '80s, when and where Elvira got her start as the ghoulishly funny host of Movie Macabre, I've always loved the Mistress of the Dark. I also loved Cal Worthington and his dog, Spot, but you wouldn't know anything about that.

ANTM News: Bisexual Michelle

While we're on the topic of ANTM, lemme tell you about some things going on with Michelle. Michelle was edited to look like an awkward, masculine freak who nevertheless took some hotass pics on Cycle 4 of America's Next Top Model. She came out as bisexual on the show and is now knocked up with Jonny Fairplay's baby. Fairplay is known for lying about his grandmother's death on his season of Survivor and for desperately milking his 15 minutes of fame in any way possible. He got his ass kicked in a major way just a few days ago at a reality TV awards show by The Partridge Family's Danny Bonaduce. According to Michelle, the baby will be a girl. Um, congratulations?

America's Next Top Model News: Lisa D'Amato

My two favorite TV shows are, in no particular order, America's Next Top Model and The Ultimate Fighter. Both of 'em have brand, spankin' new episodes tonight so here's some ANTM news to whet your appetite for tonight's show. ANTM airs Wednesdays at 7 p.m. with repeats Sunday at 8 p.m. on The CW.

America’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 contestant Lisa D’Amato seems to be hoping to start up a music career with her new song/video Ace of Spades. Lisa was one of the best contestants ANTM has ever seen and one of the few girls the show has ever had that actually knew how to model. That said, hopefully Lisa sticks to her day job as a model because she looks better and sings worse than about 99% of the rest of the population. To paraphrase A Chorus Line, Looks: 10/Voice: 1.

Melissa Etheridge on Tyra

Melissa Etheridge was on Tyra today talking about her career, her family, her battle with cancer and her relationship with her wife Tammy Lynn Michaels (of the late, still lamented TV show Popular).

“She saved my life,” said Etheridge, responding to Tyra’s question about how Tammy helped her overcome breast cancer.

“My wife basically is an x-rated film,” she said when Tyra asked her about whether or not she owned any porn.

And Johnny Depp is the male celebrity she would like to make out with because he is “very in tune with his feminine side.”

But the celebrity she most wishes would turn out to be gay is somebody else entirely. “I wish someone like George Clooney would just say, ‘yeah, I like me some man.’ You know? To which Tyra responded, “That would be so hot!”

The Tyra Banks Show is on at 11 a.m. on The CW in Denver and 4 p.m. in Colorado Springs. To see a clip from today’s show or for a shot at winning a copy of Melissa Etheridge’s new CD The Awakening, visit www.tyrashow.warnerbros.com.

Stars Speak Out About the Power of Anti-Gay Words

Amidst a national dialogue about the harmful use of the “f-word,” the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) recently announced the release of a new public service announcement (PSA) denouncing the use of anti-gay words and homophobic jokes.

The PSA is part of GLAAD’s new series of “Be an Ally & Friend” PSAs featuring 22 entertainers including openly gay T.R. Knight, Martina Navratilova and Sarah Ramirez.

GLAAD will release multiple 20- and 30-second versions of the spots, as well as versions of the PSA in Spanish and American Sign Language, approximately every two weeks during the coming year. The PSAs will also be available through broadcast collaborations with Access Hollywood, national cable networks such as Fox Reality, GSN, IFC, Lifetime, The N, Sci Fi Channel and Sundance Channel; local cable systems and network affiliates; online at LiveVideo, YouTube, AOL Video and MySpace; and others to be announced.

Finally, a reason to watch Jerry Springer

Big sexy lug Pete Kelly is the latest addition to The Jerry Springer Show's security team and watching this five-time Police Boxing Champion and three-time Golden Glove finalist knock the crap out of a scrawny pimp was the highlight of an otherwise very boring day.
