Wilde closes down

After only a couple of months of operation, Denver's newest gay bar has closed its doors for good. At closing time this past Friday, owner John announced to his employees that the club would no longer open for business.

The former employee who told me the news blamed the club's demise on a failure to carve out a niche for itself.

It's too bad, it's always nice to have a new gay club in town and I was a fan of Wilde's quirky, haunted house-style architecture and layout.

I hope John, or somebody, can re-open it as an after-hours club. I think a gay after-hours club would go over like gangbusters in Denver.

DJ Chaotic at Wilde

DJ Chaotic is on the main floor at Wilde every Friday from 10 p.m. spinning fresh, exciting and electric hits to knock you onto the dance floor and into your weekend!

Wilde's Grand Opening

Wilde dancebar & lounge is officially in business, throwing open their doors this past Friday to a standing-room-only crowd that seemed very excited to have a new club make it entry into Denver's gay party scene.

"It's a great space," said my friend Matt, "I like all the different rooms and nooks and crannies."

A former residence, Wilde is big but not cavernous and each room or area has something different going on. There was DJ Chaotic on the second floor, a couple of different seating areas on the main floor, pool and darts upstairs and a restaurant in the back (there serving appetizer type items for the moment but have plans to open up a full kitchen soon) and there was a lot of movement from room to room. The layout of club definitely encourages mixing and mingling.

Wilde's grand opening party was exactly that and a welcome kick-off for Denver's club season. I would have to say the place seems destined for plenty of 'wilde' and crazy times ahead.
