Colorado Pride: 4 Corners Pride Festival this weekend

The 4 Corners Pride Festival takes place this Saturday, June 26 from 2-6 p.m. at 15th and Main Avenue in Durango, CO.

GLAAD Call to Action: Ask Clear Channel why they rejected Pride billboards

Clear Channel Outdoor, the world’s largest outdoor advertising firm reaching millions of consumers, has rejected two gay pride ads in its local Tampa Bay, Florida market. The ads were submitted by St. Pete Pride organizers.

One ad features a gay couple with the caption: “my family is FUN.” The second ad features a lesbian couple with the caption: “my family is FREE.” Both were intended to advertise the upcoming St. Petersburg Pride celebration happening on June 26.

While Clear Channel Outdoor declined to run those two ads, the company did approve two additional pride related ads:  One features a drag performer, with the caption: “my family is FIERCE” and a second features two dads sitting on the couch with their son, with the caption: “my family is FABULOUS & FEARLESS.”

TAKE ACTION NOW: GLAAD stands with the local organization St. Pete’s Pride and urges you to demand that Clear Channel explain why it refused billboard images of loving and committed couples, reverse its decision and apologize to the Tampa Bay area LGBT community.

The PrideFest production committee is responsible for coordinating the programming and production of PrideFest. The committee meets every other week from January through May and weekly in June. There's no better way to show your pride than by working behind the scenes to make it happen.

Here I am looking fat and flabby next to one of the fittest women in the world, Juliet Draper. Draper, a firefighter in Colorado Springs, won the Combat Challenge World Title in 2003. She also won the World Police and Fire Games Powerlifting Championship in 2004 and the State Games of America Powerlifting Championship in 2005.

Draper's longtime partner is Pam Jones, a writer and filmmaker who is the sister of legendary gay icon Grace Jones.

I'm still not sure what moves someone to protest a gay pride parade but maybe it's evidence that society is moving forward that the protesters no longer spew the kind of hate and foulness that they used to. The message might still be the same but the box it's wrapped up in is a lot nicer.

The first of two official PrideFest issues for this year, the May 38 edition of OFC features articles on the new Sex in the City movie, Trans 101, an interview with Aubrey Sarvis, El Futuro Community Center, Naughty Pierre, fabulous Las Vegas, and all of the rest of the regular OFC features and columns you've come to know and love over the years.

ONE FM will be giving away a pair of Madonna concert tickets to the November 11th show at Pepsi Center in Denver. The prize will be awarded on the Main Stage at Pridefest.
