Denver PrideFest 2011: Calling all Gay Servicemembers and Vets

Don’t forget – the theme for this year’s PrideFest festival and the parade this year is “These Colors Don’t Run: honoring our LGBT servicemembers and veterans.”

The Center has chosen the Servicemembers Legal Defense Network as the Grand Marshal for Denver PrideFest 2011, honoring their work on behalf of our LGBT community and commitment to repealing Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.

The Center is also asking all LGBT servicemembers and veterans to join in an open parade contingent and march with us in the parade on Sunday morning. All servicemembers are welcome! If you are interested in participating contact vetsmarch@glbtcolorado.org, or report directly to Cheesman Park at 11th Ave. and Race St. at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 19.

The ABCs of PrideFest: A is for Anticipation

Rainbow FlagDenver PrideFest 2011 is coming, and we can’t wait. It’s like the holidays without having to buy presents for anyone.

But we still get to eat, drink, and decorate – ourselves! Don’t forget to show your colors. Even Dorothy’s world was black and white until she ventured over the rainbow (and Toto, too).

Denver PrideFest is recognized as one of the top ten Pride celebrations in the country. With five stages of live music and entertainment and more than 200 vendors, plus plenty of events for everyone over two full days (not to mention the before-and-after parties and events), Denver PrideFest 2011 in Civic Center Park is the place to be on Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19.

What’s happening this year? You’ll have to stay tuned, so bookmark this blog. Or better yet, subscribe, so you don’t miss a minute of the PrideFest party. We’ve got some great stuff coming up and going down.
(And this year’s theme is “These Colors Don’t Run: honoring our LGBT servicemembers and veterans” – so get those rainbow colors ready!)

The adorable Atlas boys were one of the highlights of Boulder PrideFest, passing out safe sex kits and looking cute.

Boulder PrideFest photos 'n stuff

Colorado's PrideFest season is officially over now that Boulder PrideFest has come and gone.

It was my first PrideFest there and it's always nice to get back for a visit. I lived there for a couple of years when I was in my '20s. I was a lifeguard at the Boulder Reservoir and boy, there are some stories I could tell!

Anyway, Boulder PrideFest was pleasant enough but I was really surprised by how small and mellow an affair it was. There was no parade or anything just a couple of blocks of booths and things. There were some parties and events after the fact but I was home napping by the time all that went down.

Check out my Boulder PrideFest photos after the jump.
