Comment to Win Free Tickets to Jekyll & Hyde

Jekyll & Hyde has come to Denver! This dark and dangerous love story is brought to thrilling, chilling new life by Constantine Maroulis (“American Idol”) and Grammy-nominee Deborah Cox

Now in a newly-reimagined production bound for Broadway, this classic tale of good and evil still features audience favorites, “This is the Moment,” “A New Life” and “Someone Like You.”

I've got two pairs of tickets for the Sunday, February 3 show to give away courtesy of the gorgeous and talented Erica Cobb (left: I know, right?) Just leave your name in the comments (and whether you prefer the to see the 1pm or 6:30pm performance) and I'll choose two winners by 5pm today.
Winners will have 24 hours to confirm or another winner will be chosen.

Thanks and good luck! According to Ms. Cobb, "This is an AWESOME show!"

Pride Party: Summer Glam 2012 Recap!

by Erica Cobb

Hey everyone!!

What an AMAZING weekend.  As many of you know I have been working on this concept Summer Glam, a PRIDE party, for quite some time now.

This year we brought in the lovely and talented Deborah Cox and she brought the house down!

Because of the success of this event I’m very excited to move on to phase II, as Friday evening was far bigger than one night or one city ;)  So before I take off for Chicago PRIDE I want to share some highlights from this event with you…

The weekend kicked off with an interview at The Four Season’s Pool Party with Deborah Cox, Thursday night,  about what to expect for her Summer Glam performance (ABOVE).  DJ Bedz (Official DJ of Denver Nuggets and Summer Glam) was spinning and conveniently  started playing Deborah’s hit “Nobody’s Supposed to Be Here,” to which set the tone for the whole weekend, unpredictable and fun.

Then it was show time…  Friday night Summer Glam kicked off with a crowd warm-up by emcee Goddess Duane and then Drag performances by our fabulous Denver Queens: Kiera Sexton, Venus Sexton, Sushi Chan, Shanida Lawya and Angelina Essex!  And then it was time to introduce our guest emcee Real World: New Orleans star Danny Roberts!  Danny reminded us of the timeliness of his appearance because “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” has since been repealed.  (You’ll remember Danny made headlines because his military boyfriend during his Real World filming had to be blurred out because of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”) Then it was the Andrew Christian underwear model fashion show, followed by Sordid Lives Star and Pop Prince, Jason Dottley‘s performance with a special appearance by BassTramp (Above: look for them at St. Pete’s PRIDE).

Then it was all about Deborah and her LIVE performance was amazing.  The woman sang LIVE the entire time, danced and worked the crowd.  She look fabulous and performed flawlessly.  And if her planned performance wasn’t enough, she did an impromptu encore of “I Will Always Love You”… ACAPELLA (To watch click link or pic ABOVE)!!  What a way to wrap up this much anticipated and talked about event!!

Summer Glam is happy to have donated to the following LGBT charities: POINT Foundation (on behalf of Danny Roberts) which provides financial support, mentoring, leadership training and hope to meritorious students who are marginalized due to sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression.
As well as Turner Foundation (on behalf of Corky’s Pool Party) whose mission is to support the performing arts and to ensure the continuation of live theatre and music and the education of theatre and music for the benefit of the present and the future.

Thank you to our following sponsors and friends for your support: MileHighGayGuy.com, 95.7 The PartyMax Muscle Colorado, OUT in the cityPulse Magazine DenverDJ Beth Kanai, DKH Creative, Cameron Walker Interactive Designs , Top Her Couture , Four Seasons Denver , The Curtis Hotel, Decor ‘N More and Ultimate Limousine Company

Much love, respect and appreciation to all of you and to everyone who attended and supported! Until next time…  All my love…

Pride Summer Glam 2012: A conversation with the beautiful and talented Erica Cobb

Erica Cobb
Chicago native Erica Cobb has only been in Denver for a few years but she's already made a big splash as a TV and radio personality and noted straight ally of the gay community.

This Friday, June 15 she'll present Summer Glam 2012 - a Pride concert and celebration featuring diva Deborah Cox, underwear king Andrew Christian (and lots of hot, half-naked models), MTV's Danny Roberts, actor/musician Jason Dottley and a host of Denver drag queens and entertainers.

I had the chance to chat with Erica recently and here's what she had to say about Summer Glam, Denver's gay community, and banana hammocks.

Drew: How did Summer Glam come about?
Summer Glam came about originally because I was going through some career transitions and didn't know how much longer I'd remain in Denver.  It was actually just some chatter over a pretty fabulous lunch meeting that I should throw this party for the LGBT community who supported me so much over the years as a last hurrah type thing.

I NEVER envisioned securing Deborah Cox to come and perform and having such amazing supporting talent with Sordid Lives star and Pop Prince Jason Dottley, Real World New Orleans' Danny Roberts, the Andrew Christian fashion show and all of my fabulous drag queens and emcees Goddess Duane, Kiera Sexton, Venus Sexton, Sushi Chan, Shanida Lawya and Angelina Essex.  It's become like a fabulously flamboyant America's Got Talent: Denver Edition!

Members of Denver's gay community have been trying to get Deborah Cox to come here for years with Facebook petitions and things. How did you accomplish it?
Well, if I'm out of pocket for periods of time my friends know how to get me so I channeled that thought and CALLED HER HUSBAND!!  LOL, no seriously, her husband manages her and we had a great conversation.  At the end of the conversation he said to me "Erica, whether this works out or not, I think this is a really great thing you're trying to do."  That lit a fire in me and I thought, we HAVE to get this done!

Then everything started falling into place with investors, the media backing from Clear Channel and 95.7 The Party and the community enthusiasm and support.  It just seemed like all things were possible.  At the end of the day they are!

You've got an Andrew Christian underwear fashion show planned. What kind of underwear do you prefer on a man - boxers, briefs, or something else entirely?
I'm gonna go with a banana hammock that reads "make my day" ;) ... No seriously, definitely briefs it's always best to go "Beckham-esque!"

How would you describe your relationship with Denver's gay community?
I would like to think it's one of mutual respect and family.  I don't believe that family is 100% made up of people you are blood related to.  After relocating to Denver, I realized that I needed to have family here.  My husband and I felt so welcomed by the community that it was just a natural fit.

What's your message for readers of MileHighGayGuy.com?
I really hope that Summer Glam is an event that is an annual thing here in Denver.  PRIDE is like Christmas to me and to have another party that celebrates such a fabulous weekend is like a crazy dream.  This event on Friday will be about fun, celebration and togetherness.  I can't wait to see you all there!

Anything else you'd like to say?
Who's to say this can't happen again? Denver you have a voice, ask and you may receive! Who would you like to bring to Denver next?

Summer Glam featuring Deborah Cox takes place on Friday, June 15 at The Ogden Theatre and tickets are on sale now! In addition to the divalicious Deborah Cox there will also be DJ Bedz, drag shows , and a fashion show from Andrew Christian (you know that's gonna be hot, hot, hot!).
