Free Stuff: Mark Your Calendars for Free Days at the National Park Service
There are nine more reasons to enjoy national parks next year! The National Park Service will offer free admission to every visitor on nine days in 2015.
The 2015 entrance fee-free days are:
January 19: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
February 14-16: Presidents Day weekend
April 18 & 19: National Park Week’s opening weekend
August 25: National Park Service’s 99th birthday
September 26: National Public Lands Day
November 11: Veterans Day
“Every day is a great day in a national park, and these entrance fee free days offer an extra incentive to visit one of these amazing places,” said National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis. “As we prepare to celebrate the National Park Service’s centennial in 2016, we are inviting all Americans to discover the beauty and history that lives in our national parks.”
A national park may be closer to home than you think. National Park Service sites are located in every state and in many major cities, including New York City which is home to ten national parks. They are places of recreation and inspiration and they are also powerful economic engines for local communities. Throughout the country, visitors to national parks spent $26.5 billion and supported almost 240,000 jobs in 2013.

Things to do in Denver When You're Gay: National Park Week
Bent’s Old Fort National Historic Site will join the other 400 units of the National Park System by offering free admission to everyone through Friday, April 26 in celebration of National Park Week.
“This year’s theme, ‘Did you know…’ provides a fun way to discover the wonders of America’s national parks,” said National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis. “For example, did you know that the country’s highest peak, lowest point, tallest tree, deepest lake and longest cave are in national parks? Did you know that national parks include seashores, battlefields and historic homes? Did you know you probably live within an hour or two of a national park? National Park Week is a great time for all to visit a nearby national park and connect with our heritage.”
Locally, Bent’s Old Fort will waive all admission fees while the fort’s bookstore and trade goods store will offer a 15% discount on all purchases from April 22 to April 26.
“National Park Week is a time to celebrate what some have called ‘America’s best idea’,” said Rick Wallner, Chief of Interpretation at Bent’s Old Fort. “Our site typifies what the national parks have to offer – wonderful examples of our country’s great natural and human history preserved and interpreted for all to enjoy. And next week it’s all free.”

David Guetta releases documentary 'Nothing But The Beat' free on iTunes through April 2
Superstar DJ and producer David Guetta has announced that his documentary “Nothing But The Beat” which was produced by Coca Cola’s Burn Energy Drink in conjunction with his own label “What A Music,” is to be released as a free iTunes podcast today, March 27th – April 2nd, marking the biggest global campaign iTunes has done for an artist and first of its kind with a brand. “Nothing But The Beat” is a full-length documentary-style film chronicling David Guetta’s life, career and meteoric rise from underground house DJ to global superstar. The movie tells the inspirational story of the rise of EDM through the eyes of David Guetta and his friends; their impact on electronic music is ready to ignite music fans the world over. By fusing house and electronic beats with hip hop and R&B, Guetta has catapulted house music from clubs to stadiums worldwide, ultimately taking it to the top of the music charts. The release takes place just days after Guetta’s headline appearance at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival, one of the world’s premiere Dance Music events.
Guetta says, “What’s happened to Dance music recently is unbelievable. I’ve been a DJ for 20 years and “Nothing But The Beat” tells a part of the story through my eyes. But not just mine; my peers, those DJs who inspired me and my collaborators too. It shows how far we have all come and I hope will inspire all those new DJs, producers, and everyone to follow their passion. I wanted to give something back to those who have supported me and show people new to the scene and sound some of our history. I hope you enjoy—this FREE download on iTunes globally is for YOU.”
The film features interviews with and insights from dance music legends Norman Cook aka Fatboy Slim, Laurent Garnier, David Morales, and Pete Tong. The most exciting new blood, Avicii and Afrojack plus some of today’s most acclaimed artists who have worked with David including will.i.am, Kelly Rowland, Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, Taio Cruz and Usher. The movie also tracks the role David Guetta played in bringing together European electronic culture and US urban music; which changed the sound of radio in America. At the same time, the EDM scene in the US has exploded and NBTB shows how David has been pivotal as a DJ, playing evens like Electric Daisy Carnival for many years. A peek into the journey, David shares the ups, downs, struggles and victories as he introduces beats and bassline sounds to new audiences and the next generation.
In addition, David Guetta releases on iTunes Nothing But The Beat – The Electronic Album in its entirety in the U.S. The album features 10 futuristic, electronic, instrumental tracks that illustrate why Guetta is the world’s #1 beat-meister, showcasing the underground dance culture in which his roots lay (full track-listing below). One of the tracks, “Sunshine” which Guetta produced with Avicii was a 2011 GRAMMY® nominee for Best Dance Recording. Another standout track “The Alphabeat” is currently being used in a Renault campaign and Guetta will release a video for the track soon. The electronic tracks were previously split between a physical and digital deluxe version of Guetta’s acclaimed 5th studio album Nothing But The Beat. This is the first time that fans in the U.S. can get all ten tracks on one album.
Guetta has also announced that his next U.S. single will be “Titanium” featuring SIA. Already a #1 song overseas, “Titanium” will impact radio on April 30th. It follows the platinum-selling “Where Them Girls” featuring Flo-Rida and Nicki Minaj which went top 10 at Top 40 radio, double-platinum “Without You” featuring Usher which hit #1 at Top 40 radio and top 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 and current platinum single “Turn Me On” which is #2 this week at Top 40 radio and hit #4 on the Hot 100.
It has been a banner year for David Guetta since the August release of Nothing But The Beat (Capitol/Astralwerks). In the 7 months since release the album has sold 2.3 million albums and 14 million tracks. In addition to the GRAMMY® nomination for Best Dance Recording, the album was nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album. It was also named the iTunes Rewind 2011 Best Dance Album. In October Guetta was named the #1 DJ in the world in the influential DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll, a spot that was previously held for four years by Armin Van Buurin. Guetta was also nominated for two MTV Europe Music Awards, a BRIT Award and a Victoire de la Musique Award.
This past weekend, Guetta played his F*** ME I’M FAMOUS party in Miami at Liv on March 23rd, headlined the ULTRA Music Festival March 25th and will perform the dance tent at Coachella next month. He will be touring around the world for most of 2012.

Win free, opening night tickets to 'Confessions of a Mormon Boy'
'Confessions of a Mormon Boy' is coming Denver's Dangerous Theatre March 29-April 1 and you could win two free tickets to opening night!
Comment this post for a chance to win. Winner will be selected at random on Monday, March 26. *
Steven Fales (top left) could have been the poster child for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormon Church): Eagle Scout, international missionary, BYU graduate, married in the Salt Lake Temple, and father of a beautiful boy and girl. In his autobiographical one-man play, Fales tells the captivating story of his failed attempt to overcome his "same-sex attraction" through "reparative therapy," which resulted in his divorce and excommunication from the Mormon Church.
After his perfect Mormon world fell apart, Fales took his pain and confusion to New York City where he quickly descended into the gay underworld of escorting and drugs. Both touching and funny, Mormon Boy is a 90-minute reclamation saga of a Latter-day prodigal son that ends in a moment of self-revelation that "hits us between the eyes like a shot with a two-by-four" (Chicago Sun Times).

The very personal play shows the
link between spiritual abuse and addiction. Fales defines spiritual
abuse as any time an individual, group, or institution uses religion to
justify telling or showing anyone they are not worthy of god’s full love
and blessings. Mormon Boy also illustrates the dilemma of those
struggling to reconcile their dreams of becoming straight with the
realities of being gay and what it costs to accept or deny that truth
when children are involved.
Denver's Dangerous Theatre and Mormon Boy
Productions are proud to present the Denver Premier of "Confessions of a
Mormon Boy."

Win free tickets to Opera Colorado's presentation of Florencia en el Amazonas
Who wants to win two free tickets to the Friday, March 30th presentation of Florencia en el Amazonas? Opera Colorado is offering up two orchestra seat tickets (the best in the house!) as well as a pass to the Donor's Lounge for intermission.
When the great opera singer Florencia Grimaldi journeys up the Amazon to
perform in Manaus, she re-examines her life and the love she left
behind. Along for the journey are a host of other characters, including a
journalist writing a book about Florencia and her life. The music,
composed by Daniel Catan, has been compared to Italian composers such as
Puccini – a lush romantic score that incorporates the Latin American
rhythms of its setting. Inspired by Latin American writers such as
Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Florencia en el Amazonas was a hit when
it debuted at Houston Grand Opera and Seattle Opera. You won’t want to
miss this Rocky Mountain regional premiere of Opera Colorado’s first
Spanish-language opera.

Just leave a comment on this post to be entered to win. Winner will be chosen at random on Monday, March 26. If winner does not confirm in 24 hours, a new winner will be selected. Good luck!
