Sand Blast, the Largest Mid-Atlantic Gay Summer Beach Party, Moves to Atlantic City

Sand Blast producer Brad Hurtado announced today he is moving Sand Blast, the largest mid-Atlantic summer gay and lesbian beach party, to Atlantic City, New Jersey Friday, July 18 to Sunday, July 20, 2014.
Sand Blast Atlantic City’s lineup includes Friday's LOST AT SEA Kickoff Party at the Chelsea Host Hotel to welcome guests, Saturday's 7-hour SAND BLAST BEACH PARTY with popular DJ Joe Gauthreaux presiding over the dance floor alongside the ocean at the Bungalow Beach Bar. The weekend long event continues with a gay beach volleyball tournament and live stage performance on Saturday night at The Claridge Hotel's theater followed by DEEP BLUE, an all-night dance party helmed by DJ Phil Romano from Barcelona, Spain. Sunday's RIPTIDE POOL PARTY takes over the stunning pool at HARRAH’s with music by DJ Eddie Martinez, followed Sunday evening by the closing party at Caesars spectacular DUSK Nightclub with music by NYC's DJ Escape.

In the coming days Sand Blast will be announcing two oceanfront Host Hotels offering extremely attractive room packages for weekend guests starting as low as $170/night for a 3-night stay.   To be among the first to know when Host Hotel rooms go on sale visit SandBlastWeekend.com and enter your email address to receive Sand Blast event announcement.

Sand Blast originated in 2002 when a small group of New York City’s gay and lesbian weekend homeowners in Asbury Park, NJ, decided to create a summer beach weekend so they could invite friends to the once thriving destination, with the goal of increasing its popularity. Twelve years later, Sand Blast has grown into the largest mid-Atlantic summer gay and lesbian beach party. The event’s impact on Asbury Park created a thriving historic downtown, a boardwalk lined with shops, beaches packed with visitors and a vibrant and involved gay and lesbian community of over 600 households & thousands of LGBT visitors.

"The popularity of our weekend of events has caused us to outgrow Asbury Park which has been our beloved home since 2002.  Atlantic City with its many hotels, attractions, and party venues was a natural choice, and this move allows us to continue our original mission to introduce our LGBT friends from cities along the east coast to the wonders of the Jersey Shore.  Atlantic City's airport opens the weekend event to an entirely new audience from New England to Florida." says Hurtado.

Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian said “We in Atlantic City are excited to host Sand Blast this year,” said Mayor Don Guardian.  “This is a great opportunity for the LGBT community to enjoy our beautiful City, free beaches and amazing hotels.”

Things to do in Denver when you're gay: Official 'Confessions of a Mormon Boy' After Party at Denver's Dangerous Theatre

On Friday, March 31, after Mormon boy Steven Fales is done confessing, MileHighGayGuy will be hosting an after party at Denver's Dangerous Theatre.

I'm looking forward to introducing gay Denver to what I think is one of the coolest spaces in the city. It's BYOB (yeah, baby - it's that kind of party!) and there will be music from one of Denver's top DJs - Gary Givant.

RSVP on Facebook or just show up ready to party. Admission is $5 - unless you can convince me otherwise.

Bob Mould's Blowoff

Alt rock legend Bob Mould and electro-rocker Richard Morel are bringing Blowoff, their consistently sold-out bi-coastal dance party, to San Diego's Casbah on Saturday April 9. Blowoff (named after the final match in a wrestling feud), which the duo hosts and DJs, was established in DC about five years ago-started small-guys playing records for buddies-and is now a regularly packed event in six cities: DC, NYC, Provincetown, Chicago, San Francisco and, come April 9, San Diego. Blowoff is at Slim's in San Francisco the following night, April 10.

Sounds hot.

So what do we have to do to get this party to come to Denver?

Sounds like my kind of party: Carnival 2010 in Boulder

I'm just now hearing about this party but apparently it's been going on for a handful of years already. Bodypainting, nudity, and a benefit for BCAP?

Sounds right up my alley!

It's taking place this year on Saturday, February 20 at The Nomad Theater in Boulder. This is a 21-and-over private party so check out the Carnival 2010 website (site NSFW for partial nudity) and get on the guest list.

WoofClub in Australia - strictly for men

I've always wanted to visit Australia for Mardi Gras and here's one more good reason to do it.

Taking place in the subterranean “catacomb” of The Gaff (formerly known as the old Rogues nightclub) on Oxford Street, WoofClub's tagline says it all - “for durty dance dogs.”

If you’re planning a trip to Sydney for New Mardi Gras, this looks to be the recovery party of the Parade weekend! Immediately following Harbour Party 2010, WoofClub presents the best Aussie DJs including Sydney’s DJ George Roussos (Closing Party of Lazy Bear 2009) as well as DJ Paul King (UK) for your entertainment. Not to mention all the sexy Australian guys.

WoofClub, now entering its fifth year, is strictly for men. The dress code is leather/durty and the smell code is … no cologne! Specialty Folsom Street Events merchandise will be given away to the dirtiest of dogs! WoofClubponsored in part by Folsom Street Events.

Deployment: Gays in the military ... and in Las Vegas!

Gay List Daily reports that Deployment - an annual event bringing together gay servicemembers and their admirers - is coming to Las Vegas the weekend of October 9-11 and will be offering up a decadent roster of dance parties, pool parties, BBQs, and lots more for men in - and out - of uniform.

Sounds fun.

*Update: The event has been cancelled due to low sales.
